Exactly one year away from the World Cup

Still a long way to go before the first match in Qatar on November 21, 2022 but assuming the USMNT qualifies, what is your best guess on the 23 players we put on the plane.
I'll bump this in a year to see who is the closest.
Here's mine:
GK: Steffen, Turner, Johnson
DEF: M. Robinson, Brooks, Zimmerman, Richards, Dest, A. Robinson, Scally, Yedlin
MID: Adams, McKennie, Musah, Acosta, Clark, Busio
FWD: Pulisic, Reyna, Pepi, Aaronson, Weah, Hoppe

Our best 23 or best guess of who GGG brings?

Fantasizing about all the ways I would disappoint Alessandra Ambrosio has little relevance to the 2022 WC squad.

I think i already like it being in November better than the summer

I think 20 spots are basically locked in for these guys if healthy
GK: Steffan, Turner
Def: Yedlin, Scally, Dest, A. Robinson, M. Robinson, Brooks, Richards, Zimmerman
Mid: Adams, Mckennie, Musah, Acosta, Busio
F: Pulisic, Reyna, Weah, Aaronson, Pepi,
I’ll fill out my roster with:
Johnson, Dike, De La Torre
Guys I’m leaving off that I think have a chance:
McKenzie, Long, Vines, Cannon, Hoppe, miazga, Sargent, CCV, Mihailovic, lletget, roldan, Pefok, Moore, Konrad, Bello
Still a ways off but I really do think the number of open spots is small at this point.

Busio
Why do you think he is a lock?
I have him making the 23, but right now he has done anything to instill confidence.

I think Hoppe should be in there but it feels like Berhalter doesn’t rate him as highly.
Posted on 11/21/21 at 5:14 pm to Broski
My reasons are Berhalter seems to rate him highly, he has a seemingly stable club situation with regular playing time right now in Italy, and he plays what I think is the thinnest position in the player pool.
The lack of depth is frankly the biggest reason.

Also add Busio has shown some real skill on the ball and that’s still a skill we lack in the midfield. In a lackluster game against Jamaica he still produced the only threatening play of the second half.
He clearly needs to get much stronger and more physical to take another step forward in his career.

I think this far outweighs any skill on the ball he has. He did not register a single duel until the 64th minute at Jamaica. A midfielder pretty much has to run away from the ball for that to happen.

You know Greg is going to find a way to get Zardes on that plane.

Do we?
I think Gregg has been pretty good with not playing "favorites" in qualifiers.
Arriola, Lletget and Roldan didn't play a single minute these last two matches and Ream wasn't even called in.
ETA: Arriola played 12 minutes against Jamaica.

Yea I think zardes has a chance, but a very small one. Berhalter is going to want some veterans on the plane and we don’t have anyone that inspires confidence beyond Pepi, but I agree with Broski that Berhalter has been pretty good during qualifying about moving on from guys that haven’t performed - see Sargent, bello, arriola, lletget, roldan, moore, and even Brooks not in the picture this window.
And this
Is mostly why I think Busio is a lock. No one else really seems to be in the picture at the moment. If Busio isn’t on the plane to qatar it’s because someone who hasn’t featured yet in qualifying emerges and I’m not sure there is enough time left for that to happen. I don’t see someone from MLS displacing Busio at this point, and there just isn’t a ton of time left for someone in a major euro league to go from 0 to Scally.

I'm not sure how I feel about Tessman as an international quality player, but I'd like to see him get a shot and see if he can at least push Lletget for one of the backup 8 spots.
Clark is the wild card for me with him going to Leipzig in January. It may be wishful thinking, but I have him making it to Qatar is he gets playing time with RBL

this will be worse than the COVID break the Premier League had

I admittedly haven’t seen Clark actually play yet. Just a few highlight videos. But yea if he becomes a regular player the second half of this season for Leipzig I’ll put him on the plane site unseen.

Because November will be packed with every spot except professional baseball
Sub domestic soccer for international
