We are 3-16, currently the second worst record in the NBA. We aren’t going to the playoffs and cannot attract free agents. We have a roster that features Zion, JV, Ingram, Graham, Hart and no one else that would get minutes on a decent playoff team. Herb maybe a sixth NBA caliber player on the roster.

Is there anyone left that disagrees the best course of action is to tank in the hopes of securing a top 3 draft pick?

I don't think we have much of a choice neither but I really am curious where you guys stand. If we do land a TOP 5 Pick do you think we'd keep it?

The only way I see us making that pick is if we know for sure Zion is leaving. Other than that I think its getting traded for whats left of the war chest for a superstar

I would hope to god we make the pick and not trade it.

I just cant see that happening given how sketchy we've drafted. Unless there was a no brainer I think you almost have to trade the pick if Zion is staying. Idk if he leaves given the bad press and his injury history

let nature take its course.
i just read klay is practicing 5 v 5 and gsw does not plan to play him until Christmas.
you certainly make sure zion is 100% too. imho Christmas is good for zion too.
thats tank lite.

variables
1. if you want pg you trade your 5. all the best 2022 guys are bigs and shooting guards

2. how did the lakers pick turn out?

3. is the pick 5 or 3 or 2

I'm still holding out hope for a turn-around. I am confused on the Sato/Temple starts, who came up with that bright idea? We were DOA. Give those minutes to Herb and Kira.

I also think those minutes should go to Kira and Herb. Likewise hope we let NAW and Murphy play it out. Maybe there is a mid season turnaround if Zion comes back and Ingram finds his rhythm, but guys like sato and temple aren’t leading any turnaround.

I left off Hayes because I really think he’s hopeless, but I’d also like to see him get more minutes this year and accept the 20+ point losses that come from accepting the tank. Maybe his light will go on.

Snagging Paolo or Jabari would be cool. I also like Chet, but would like to see how his body holds up over a full season. There's a lot of height in the 2022 draft.

Knowing the Pelicans though, I'm sure Zion will come back just in time to get us to 11th in the west and none of those dudes will be available to us.

The writing was on the wall when the lonzo trade was completed that led to sato and temple which had to happen to get him there. the patented EXTENTIONS for temple and jv for buyin and guaranteed playing time. It tanking economics. Anyone reading into it could see after SVG was fired for not losing enough. His coaching attitude while losing could not happen. Our biggest problem is the Scouting. I know A 4 or 5 year build was never expected by fans but it has to happen after the dell demps build. The roster was bare. the trade brought bi and now we have to put up with games where the other teams Know what we are!!! Its so hard as a fan. The team is still in the first phase of leaning his offense. the stat chasing of bi and jv going away from the offense For there empty stats. other teams know. same thing happen to Zion last year. We will be fine. But when Zion comes back. this narative will be broken. The NBA is not built to stealth tank with Zion.

I mean, we can't intentionally tank right now and realistically expect to keep Zion. The odds may be very long, but we have to give him the opportunity to try to lead the team to the playoffs. It's very unlikely, but we are obviously not out of the running for the play-in.

If you want the team to lose, that's your own prerogative, but the team cannot do any such thing.

Until you play to win, you don’t. A tank should be a total roster reconstruction to anyone not named Zion, Ingram, Hart or Jonas. Surround those 4 with vets and you’ve got a good playoff team.

Yes we do...

And yes we will, and if we don't end up with at least 1 of the pics this offseason, that means we made the playoffs and it was worth it

Seriously, look at how mediocre the Lakers are this season, and then imagine how bad they'll be next season, when AD, LeBron, and Westbrook will have even less tread left on the tires.

This season is definitely increasing the value of our Lakers picks. And even the Bucks haven't looked very good so far. They definitely don't like they will repeat.

We are 3-16. Every piece we have is playing right now except Zion, and the team is dreadful. It may not have been the team’s prerogative to tank, but the team built a roster with too few nba caliber players on it to win games.

This team isn’t Zion away from contending. It’s Zion away from maybe being a 7-10 seed. If you want to keep Zion you need to contend.

I do want the team to lose the rest of this season because I think it’s the best option for keeping Zion long term. The draft seems to be our only avenue to add another star. If you don’t add another star, Zion will leave very soon.

I mean Philly did it with Embid—-

For all intents and purposes Zion first 3 years as been then same as Joel.
