If true I doubt Woodward got played. One of their insider posters said they reached out to several candidates and Riley was interested.
Side note many of them want CEO back in some capacity on Defense.

This makes the most sense.
I bet the deal was done a while ago and for some reason the rumor of him coming to lsu spread like wildfire on here. Like always, we did it to ourselves. It was all speculation and insiders don’t know shite .
Woodward probably knew about it and that’s why he allegedly offered up so much money
Hopefully he has a backup plan because lsu looks like a damn fool right now .

Cause their fans don’t get as involved as ours do. In the end the people that hurt our program the most is the fans. Remember there was a time Nebraska was a juggernaut and then they got in the habit of replacing coaches quickly and they still haven’t returned. Sometimes you have to give a coach time to settle. I mean if he is fired before he sees his first recruiting class as seniors he isn’t even playing with all his talent yet.

Yea that guy is being retarded. Our situation is nothing like Nebraska. We didn’t fire a coach that was winning 9 games a year just now. Ed was a flat 500 since the nc in two years and his off the field antics were bad.
We had a slow trigger on Les, Saban left us and we gave Gerry time to correct his mistakes just like O and neither did.
LSU isn’t that quick of a hook.

boomer and sooner are in a norman, OK, kill shelter…
you can bet cash money, the idea of L. A. was every bit as appealing to the riley missus as it were to the kid from lubbock, TX…

The only piece that says we could have gotten played is the stories we saw that we were prepared to set a new bar for coaching salary.
Now if the reports of those were made up (which could easily be true since journalist are scum) then we didn’t get played. If they were true and Scott had plans to reset the market we might have gotten played by snake Riley.
Of course if we lure Rhule back from the NFL then the reports were true and we didn’t get played.
We hire Aranda and the reset the market comment was true, then we got played but probably got the best coach for the program.

You don’t think SW reached out to Riley and others weeks ago and some of them (including Riley) likely showed interest? That doesn’t mean SW got played. It does mean a strong candidate he would have signed or entered negotiations with opted to go elsewhere.
Several prominent candidates have signed extensions or gone to high quality programs. LSU remains unfilled. Anyone who claims the search was finished weeks ago is wrong; it is still not. Some of the targets with whom mutual interest has been expressed are still available, but every day this is not finalized is another day for other factors to change the dynamics.

Not surprising. My guess is Woodward got played with Riley and his agent’s feigned interest in the LSU job, since the LSU rumors served as a perfect smokescreen for Riley’s done deal with SC.
No doubt in my mind that the shite eating grin Scott wore in the hunting pic with CEH was because he thought he had Riley signed, sealed, and delivered to LSU—well, at least the last two.
