going undefeated in H2H is a pretty rare feat, especially the last few years as standings across the board in my leagues have been pretty tight.
So in a flawed H2H format should a team that has a marginally better record really get free points? IDK.

What reason would anyone here have to lie? Lol

For the same reason people blame the refs. They want an excuse for why they didn’t win.
I can’t tell you how many times I heard. “I was the highest scoring team and didn’t make the playoffs”. I’ve never seen it once in any league I played in. So like to see proof of it. It’s very very rare to happen... i’m sure it has happened before. But not often.

happened to me in 2016, highest scoring team at 1,795. The 5th and 6th seeds each scored 1,551.
Same league last year guy won the regular season despite having the 3rd to last point total, just kept drawing the team that would shite the bed weekly, it was amazing and infuriating at the same time

So in one of my leagues we changed up defenses to get points based on run stuffs and pass deflections, while decreasing the effects of points against and sacks a little. Some liked it, some didnt. My biggest issue with it on espn, is that it was still calculating into tuesday alot, and actually into a saturday the following week and it changed a previous game outcome for me

Sums up perfectly how I’d like to handle TE going forward

Gross. Just… gross. I’ll offer up my idea once again, and my main league loved it during our first year: change the TE position to a WR/TE Flex. No running backs, just wide receivers and tight ends. And before everyone starts going on-and-on that no one will start tight ends, and no one will care about them, breathe a second. The point is to offer flexibility and strategy. We still had a team start a tight end in the regular Flex for most of the season because he drafted Zach Ertz and fell into Eric Ebron. Additionally, the elite options are still going to go where there normally go because Travis Kelce was WR8, Ertz WR10 and George Kittle WR12 if ranked there. This truly opens up the debate of starting a Chris Herndon or a Donte Moncrief. Do you start a TE2 or a WR5? You’ll especially appreciate the flexibility during the four and six-team byes when you would be deciding between Matt LaCosse and Ricky Seals-Jones instead.

all but one of my leagues went to a hybrid a couple of years ago, im on the fence about it, it makes the league easier IMO and removes some strategy, having to account for a dedicated TE spot shows more skill than being able to just throw a WR in there.

I think it takes more strategy than a dart throw at TE. To me it’s like kicker, either I’ve got a good one or I’m throwing some turd in there hoping it’s his week. I don’t give it much thought because it likely won’t decide my match up.
Now finding and inserting a guy that could legit swing your match up requires more thought

I think the WR/TE flex is only good for leagues with big starting lineups. In smaller leagues the decision will almost always be easy in favor of the WR

I meant to say in the draft, you have to pick if you want a badass TE or not when you have the TE spot.
Do I wanna have an immediate advantage over most owners because the position is so shallow?
A hybrid makes your decision for you IMO, it makes the draft easier.

But you don’t, you essentially drafted a WR1-2 and paid for a WR1-2. You don’t get more points for out scoring your opponent at an individual position. I’ve never understood people that think in those terms. I’ll take Ertz at a specific round if I have him rated higher than the WRs on the board at that point.

if I have Travis Kelce and someone has Trey Burton, I have an advantage over them at the position, I have almost everyone in the league hammered at the TE spot whenever we match up.
Position scarcity is massive at TE considering there are only 4 legit guys.

You arent looking at it correctly, you have to look at it from a TE only spot.
If I have Ertz in that spot all year, because of scarcity Im probably winning that spot 85% of the time in my games.

No I think you’re looking at incorrectly, positional advantage is largely meaningless, it’s a cumulative score. If you drafted Ertz there you did so at the cost of another position so you’re “advantage” is largely negligible

nah, bc all positions arent equal. You can get same value on the guy at RB/WR you skipped for ertz in the next round
why have positions at all? this is just an outlier year for TE more than likely. A lot of old guys at the position, some injuries etc

you are looking at it wrong my man, Im not sure how else I can explain it.

It’s been a few years now. There just aren’t a lot of guys with the skill set teams feel needed to actually force looks to. Some are phasing it out for more multi WR sets or just using it as an extra blocker that gets the occasional looks.
Posted on 1/9/19 at 11:32 am to GynoSandberg
and perhaps you can, but I didn’t see a lot of championship rosters featuring the guy that went TE high. So you can hit on a WR later but obviously your odds are lower as is your margin for error
