Picou's Donuts.. RIP
A small place in the hood off of Broad Street. They closed in the early 90s. The window was glass like at a bank drive thru and they had drawer just like a bank drive thru for payment and transfer of the donuts to the customer.
The icing and the donuts were so buttery and delicious. They only served fresh hot donuts. Hood rats and stoner white kids were their customer base, atleast at night.

The best donut is from shipley donuts on Hwy 71 in bunkie, la.
The only right answer. I have had donuts from a bunch of places and I know people who have had donuts from a bunch of places and this is the best. I guarantee if any of you ate one with an open mind, you'd agree.

Shipleys in Bunkie isnt like shipleys anywhere else. He has his own recipe and has been cooking donuts since the 60's.

My mother used to make them out of canned biscuits. They were ridiculous.

I think he had too much pride, and a little stubbornness.

I definitely want to try Shipleys in Bunkie. Problem is, I've only been through Bunkie once in my life, a couple years back on my way to Paragon in Marksville. I don't remember much about it except Royal Cajun Fried Chicken or something like that.

We have shipley's in the office every friday.. they're good but they don't exactly blow me away. I don't really diversify my donut-eating portfolio though so I'm no expert.
The best I remember came from a little shop called Donut King in Kansas City. I was a kid at the time though so it could just be childhood nostalgia.

SHIPLEYS ON LOUISVILLE
i've had old school dunkin when it was on 18th street and we'd eat them during parades because we were stuck there..always felt like i was eating a 'second tier' donut even as a kid
i've done the round rock donuts. for those who haven't had them, they are very similar to shipleys. fun to go and get a dozen to eat in the parking lot and they are CHEAP (like 50 cents each) but other than the cute 'yellow' look, they really are not that great..even though they look good.
the 'pot sticker' donut at starbucks..they should be ashamed they serve that people & charge them $2
krispee creme..yeah i do like them off the belt..but Shipleys is in a class of their own. krispee can't hold a candle.
who remembers the morton's frozen donuts you had to leave out on the counter for hours or bake in the oven?
finally whoever said 'pillsbuy biscuit dough' donuts ding ding ding! i made these for my wife recently and she flipped out. good stuff. i probably hvaen't had them since i was 12 years old and my mon made them.

Quick Hijack-
Glass or anyone really, I am going to Martinique tomorrow night wasn't supposed to be this cold.
Are there heaters in the courtyard or should I just ask to be moved inside? I have never been.
Or should I find a better place for a date.
Thanks.

Is what I would do. I like the place, haven't been in a while though. Good date place IMO.
