Last time I bought Cane Syrup from a grinding mill was the Mile Branch Settlement at the Washington Parish Fair. I think Mile Branch Settlement is open during the holidays but don't know if they are making any syrup.

Just buy Steen's.
My family owns one of the mills. My grandpa used to bring some home when I was a kid to put on waffles and biscuits and there is no noticeable difference with Steens
We have a friend who makes wonderful cane syrup and grows the cane herself -- we helped her harvest one year. Her syrup is better than Steen's to me, but not by much. Steen's is good stuff

Poirier’s in Youngsville has what you seek.
Yep, nothing comes close. He only does 1 release per year and sells out in a few days. Managed to score 3 bottles this year

What time of year? Grinding season is now.
Alma is a client of ours. They often send us home with bags of raw sugar. Love those trips.

Type 2 here, so real syrup is a rare treat, but Steen's was always my favorite. We have a friend with a maple syrup company in Vermont, we get a quart of dark amber as a gift occasionally, that is the only syrup I've ever had that is intense as Steen's, different flavor, but intense.

When did they start selling syrup again? Was in there a few weeks ago and they said they were no longer selling the syrup.

I bought mine a couple years ago. If they aren't selling it anymore, my apologies for the misinformation.

Are you saying Steen’s was not made to be syrup?
If Steen’s is merely the cooked by-product of sugarcane, any difference is explained only by cooking temperature, cook time, and possibly the variety of sugarcane used.
Wondering what the board thinks is the optimal cooking time, temp, and variety.
