I've had Five Guys once since I moved to the Tampa area, and I don't have the desire to ever go back. Cajun fries were downright disgusting, it tasted like they overseasoned them with blackening seasoning. The burger was OK, nothing to rave about. As for the price, it's on par with fast food burgers, as it should be because that's the quality you get.

Oh, and JMHO, but Cheeburger >>> Five Guys.

from the humble/atasocita area?? I had five guys while visiting my mom and the choice was there or smashburger. We went with five guys and it was a good burger, just nothing totally special about it.

For a fast food burger joint, this place gets way too much hype/criticism. It's a cheap, greasy burger and fries place. Why the demand for super high quality? If you want a quality hamburger, don't go in a place that gets you your food in less than 5 minutes.

Yes it is

If you are in the Houston area for a burger, my favorites are:
Christian's Tailgate
Southwell's
Smashburger

The best part is they use fresh veggies; like you can get fresh jalapeno on your burger which is always nice

It's not McDonald's fast, but you get your food muuuuuuuuuuuuuuch quicker than you would at a sit-down server-style restaurant, even a shitty chain like Chili's. It's much more of a fast-food restaurant than anything else -- counter service only, fix your own drinks, order food and then wait for it at the counter, etc. How exactly would you classify it?

i expect $3 burgers, a drive-through and service within 5 minutes.

the 5 guys i've been in are usually in 'boutique' or upscale parts of town, there's almost always a line inside, burger fries and coke will be closer to $10 and the term 'convenience' doesnt fit into this in any possible way.

no kidding. of the 2 in nashville:

- one is in green hills and you have to find a parking garage (nicole kidman/keith urban live here)

- one is on west end across from vandy (you also have to find parking garage)

nothing easy about getting in and out of either.

Boss know you're eating his burgers? Still reps to you. Most Noles I know flip burgers at Buger King.

the whole reason people hype it because IT IS FAST FOOD, and because its prob the best fast food burger you can get.

if you cant realize that, i dont know what to say.

well it sure as heck isnt marketed as that here. to me fast food implies convenience and being able to get in and out inside 20 minutes

parking garages, tickets to get in and out and having to walk to them doesnt qualify in my book. they dont exist next to jack in the box or burger kings here. there in 'exclusive' hard to get in-and-out-of areas.

but tahts just my experience with nashville.

The one thing that I like about Hardees is that they cook your food after you order it. You get a number, sit down, and a short time later a worker brings your food to you. I'm not that big on their burgers but the have an awesome ham and cheese. It's stacked with hot ham. For you older people who might remember, remember the Burger Chef chain? Hardees bought them out.
