Why if I bought 2 $30 tickets, with 6.50 in processing fees and 2 $40 after party tickets with fees as well, so I'm $150 or so dollars invested in Friday.

Am I still an arse for wanting a $150 refund?

Well then let him decide himself if he still wants to donate.

of course he can decide. nobody is saying he can't. it doesn't make it any less of a harsh one.

the amount of money invested to make this event happen is hefty, and they are about to lose big by being forced to cancel. this entire event is a charitable one benefiting kids with cancer, and everyone is taking a major loss. to compound that by demanding a refund to prevent one's own loss of $25 is not a very nice move to make.

Look, man, that 25 bucks is two drunk Taco Bell runs for me. That's a need, not a want. If they're not gonna give me my money back they need to at least give me some sort of receipt that states it's a charitable donation so I can write that off on my taxes next year.

Actually the state owns City Park. Not that the state is known for maintaining anything.

True dat. City Park employees participate in state health and retirement plans, which I'm sure aren't cheap. Last I saw about 15% of the revenue was from the state (more than pre-Katrina) and the rest was self-generating.

On a completely different note, if you get hit by a golf ball at the park and suffer a ruptured testicle, you would sue the board and its insurer, the state of LA. Like this poor soul. Ouch.

I can't imagine asking for a measly $25 back that is for families dealing with horrible circumstances.

Anyway, I hope the show goes on tomorrow.

I agree. Apparently I'm an a-hole though.

I'm not going to be mad and I'm not demanding a refund, but it's still $150 of nondeductible donation money.

I don't care. I'm fine with the donation, I was just pointing out that some people spent more than $25.

I just think the idea of "its for a good cause" is such a slippery slope. I am personally fine with my ticket still going to charity. But I get scary pictures of big brother govt taking my money and telling me how it is for a good cause, dont be so greedy. That aint right
