I just wish one of these places would open a location in southeast Houston.

I always figured Cane's copied this place

I believe he worked at the Guthrie's in Athens. But he's smart enough to make his a success, whereas, the Guthries folks aren't.

Every time I hear someone on this board say something about him stealing a fast food chicken finger idea I just have to shake my head.

It's not about the food, it's marketing and management, that's what makes fast food successful. Only the dupes who eat that crap think its about the food.

BINGO. maybe Graves didn't originate the idea of a fast food place that sells chicken fingers, but damn it he did it better(in terms of success) than everybody else to my knowledge.

Otters is definitely a ripoff of canes, but with a liquor license. They were dumb enough to set up shop across the street from canes in Lafayette, but failed miserably.

This. I found Zaxby's way too salty, and the fries were not as good as Cane's.

I did love the strawberry cheesecake milkshake at Zaxby's though.

Makes sense - the guys who started Otter's are LSU grads.

Otter's sucks though, so I'll be sure to skip Canes if I ever run across one.

Otters opened a restaurant in Lafayette and it didn't make a year, I never tried it to give an opinion.
