It's not terrible. Chicken marinated in Italian is better.

I've been using Panola Bloody Mary mix for my chicken marinade lately. It isn't good for bloody Mary's, but is dynamite for some chicken tits and hips.

If you like your Italian dressing you can keep your Italian dressing.

You didn't marinate that.

ATK did an article on this. The acid in the marinade keeps the steak from developing a crisp sear, supposedly.

I see no problem. It's basically oil and herbs.

Pretty much. Two of my nieces like their steaks marinated a bit in Italian dressing and Lea and Perrins, so I do that. They like the way the marinade tastes when it's cooked on the grill. I dry the steaks and then add the marinade to brown butter with parsley and simmer it a bit. After the sear, they like a little of that sauce brushed on the steaks so that it "cooks" on the outside. They also like a little bit of it under the steak when I put it on the warmed plate. Then, they take some of the simmered sauce and spoon it over the baked potatoes, which is darn tasty. They love it. It all tastes fine to me, though it's not how I generally prepare steak for myself.

Not any more. They don't want it that way all the time either. Their favorite steak is whatever they have at Ruth's Chris, but they still like to have the Italian dressing steak and potato from time to time.

They eat their steaks medium rare if that matters to you, LE.

It made the cheap Chuck streaks in college better. Never tried it on a decent cut.

It works well on those #2 $3.99 ribeyes from Piggly Wiggly. Don't need it on a good cut of meat.

I like it. I wouldn't do it to a ribeye, strip, porterhouse, or filet. Really only on cheap sirloins. I also do it with venison backstop. it's decent and above all else, easy.

They're not at all. They will eat meals in whatever way I prepare them. I like to prepare them in ways they prefer them when time permits. We usually plan ahead for a night they want to spend the night and they pick a meal for the night and French toast for breakfast. It's fun for me and fun for them.

Same here. If we have some cheap cuts, I'll mix a little Italians and Dales together. Better cuts don't need it.

Your wife is a smart woman. My wife marinate our steaks in Italian dressing for about 3 days. I enjoy the taste of it. Next time just plant yourself in a chair and keep quiet and let your lovely wife do what she knows how to do. Enjoy the steak you will love it.

Italian dressing is a better steak marinade than Dale's is.

I prefer just kosher salt and pepper, but I won't turn down one that's been marinated in italian dressing.
