I have noticed that a lot of the exercise charts give what seem to be inflated caloric benefit for some activities. For instance some charts give the same benefit for stationary bikes as actual walking or running, that just doesn't make sense. Walking, even on a treadmill, means you are supporting your weight and moving a mass, when I walk briskly for 30 minutes, I am sweated out and ready to rest. 30 minutes on a stationary bike, even at a medium resistance level, hardly seems like work.
My heart rate walking two miles will be in the 110s. 45 minutes on my stationary bike and it's at 150s for the duration. It's all about maintaing that target HR, right?
Walking just seems too easy and a cop out to me. I realize that's all certain people can do (or that's what they tell themselves). Wouldn't they be better off starting on a bike or elliptical and really get their heart rate up? Even if it's hard at first, it gets easier.

Finally lost the 2 pounds I gained last Saturday when I tried to shock the system with a higher calorie day.

Fwiw, I did the 13 weeks to 10k (which is basically th same as couch to 5k) and when I starts I was like "there's no way I'll jog for a mile much less 6" (this was in the "jog 1 min/walk 4 min stage)... At my high point I went 8 miles straight! That was like 5 months in...

Finally broke through 235 lbs., been stuck there this week. I was 234.2 this AM, but I'm finally making it to an LSU game. Gonna get drunk with some BR friends tonight and do my best to resist tailgate food tomorrow. Packed up some of my diet food that travels well so hopefully it goes smoothly.

You'll be back up 4 lbs by Monday, alcohol and weight loss don't go together. I'm not saying it isn't worth it, but you'll put some pounds back on.

For sure. I'm going to finish off the 9 weeks this evening. Then probably have a drink.
It's amazing to think that when I started it I had no chance at jogging a mile non-stop and now I'm doing 3 without much problem. After this I think my running partner and I are going to keep building it up... I'd also like to work on increasing my speed.

Kudos to you! I'm still in week 2. Kicking my butt because I was so out of shape. I should maybe hang around week 1 and 2 for a bit to get in better shape before progressing. I feel like you felt...I can't see my arse running 3 miles let alone 1 non-stop!

I don't see a few too many glasses of scotch putting 4 lbs on me. I haven't been drinking at all and I'm still gonna be eating healthy, and not drubk eating. I'm sure I may put something back on, but 4 lbs seems high. We'll see when I weigh in on Monday though

He is probably right. First off, being drunk and staying on a diet with good food all around you is nearly impossible.
Hell, I only ate 2600 calories last Saturday and I gained 2 pounds from that and it wasn't all water because it took 6 days to get it back off.
Good luck.

I'm not gonna be drunk Saturday while I'm tailgating. I'm just hanging out at a friend's house tonight and we're splitting a bottle of scotch.

I do an hour a day on my treadmill at 3mph with a 12 degree incline. Try it. Your heart will jump out of your chest. Plus I have thighs like Dalton Hillard.

Finally through the 242 plateau. Hope I don't hit another one for a while.

I think the program says that if you fail to meet the goals, you should repeat that week. Don't be afraid to repeat. When I did it, I had to repeat a couple of days/weeks.

I finished it Friday evening, never failed a day.
Now it's time to work on getting my times better and maybe building up to 10K. We were basically at 11.5 minute miles on the last run, and I'd like to get that down to 10 minute miles for 5K.
And somehow I lost a lot of weight over the last few days, was down to 222 this AM.

257 to 238 in about two months. Shooting for 175. Slow but steady.
No fast food on the way home from work then eating dinner with family. More vegetables and fruit. If its white avoid it like the plague and just staying hungry more often.
