To each his own but I need the encouragement of a dropping scale. Yes, recently I want to toss the scale out the window after having smashed it to bits and microwaved it for good measure.
But for most of this almost 8 months I have been on this diet, I needed to see the downticks of the scale more than once a week and I still say one month is sheer folly.
I just see it like this: a girl cuts her hair short, and just hates the way it looks. And every day she measures if to see if it has grown. obviously it is going to grow, but day to day, that would just drive me insane.
i dont need to weigh everyday to remind me what i am trying to do, or what weight range i am in. But like you said, everyone is different.

Holy crap, my two mile walk almost killed me tonight. Not sure why. I am one giant puddle at the moment. Please for the love of all holy, go away hot weather.

Vote for weighing weekly only here
. Calorie counts so far since Sunday: 1165, 1150, 1175 and 1250.
Getting close to make the leap to a GYM.
Good luck all!

I can't diet right now. I walk about three miles a day getting back and forth to my job, but the food in Philly is simply blowing my socks off. I do a weigh in tomorrow when I get back to BR. It could be ugly.

but you are freaking out everyday in this thread .. how can you say you haven't ?? if you wouldn't weigh yourself everyday, you'd have NO clue about this plateau ..

Once again, how about you go back and read the last month. I most definitely have not been freaking out and you sure have a low threshold for freaking out because I use a few emoticons.
Also once again genius, I have been on this diet for almost 240 days. Quit trying to tell me how to do things. I think 80 pounds SHOWS that I know what works best for me.
Once again since you can't comprehend it, I have hit two long plateaus this month which have comprised a large chunk of the month. If I weighed myself once a week, I would still be pissed. And I would be even more pissed with one weight a week and finding out I did not lose anything.
And once again, the whole point of this thread is to support each other and vent, not be told by some jackass how they SHOULD do things over and over as you keep doing.

It took 28 pages to get the first BOOM of the diet thread
Can't we all just get along?

Hey I said to each his own but he has to keep telling me I've been freaking out all month which is a load of crap.
I'm not nor have I ever freaked out over the diet.
I am however quite cranky.

and I have been nothing but supportive .. go back and read my posts to you for Christ's sake .. I, along with a number of others, suggested not weighing yourself everyday and you start having a shite fit .. isn't this thread about sharing ideas ?? isn't that its purpose along with support ?? you don't like the ideas people are sharing with you and act closed minded about it ... now you have a mini meltdown because you've convinced yourself YOU know how to diet and everyone else is just a bunch of frigging idiots in here ... you are obsessed with your weight everyday .. it's a lifestyle change .. not the focal obsession of your life .. heck, you might be 30% of the posts over the last 10 pages with your "omg omg I gained a pound yesterday after 898 calories and walking five miles !" just open your eyes and stop being sensitive Sally .. everyone's supporting you .. stop lashing and wigging out ..

235.2 this AM. Almost all the damage from this past birthday weekend is undone. Everybody have a good Thursday

LSU doesn't play this weekend so at least there will be no excuse for stress or loss eating.

Truth. Plus I'm working a lot this weekend too and that helps me stay on the diet.

I may need to change the batteries on my scale. I stepped on it three times and had three different weights. So I am not going to post a weight today because I am not sure how accurate it is.
I only ate 972 calories yesterday. Way low for me. I was going to go to the gym and took a nap which, I didn't want to wake up. So, I missed the gym post work out shake and when I woke up I just had a lean ground meat burger patty, because I didn't want a heavy dinner.
This hasn't been a good week for exercise for me, I have been exceptionally tired, due to screwed up sleep patterns. So I need to lift today and tomorrow, Cardio-Saturday and Sunday and I will still have missed a cardio day.
The dieting hasn't been hard, just motivation to get to the gym has.

Hi! I've been following this board for the last few weeks and look forward to reading everyone's comments. I've been trying to lose 25 pounds for a while -- after having lost 25 pounds previously -- to get to my goal weight. I was originally weighing daily which was perfect when the scale was always showing a weight loss from the previous day. Now, I find that I'm too discouraged to stay motivated when the daily weigh in isn't on the downhill slope. I recently changed to a weekly weigh in and I have been pleasantly surprised at how much better I am doing. Finally, I have begun to exercise, too. It makes me feel great -- I should've started sooner. But, seriously, whatever works for YOU is what's important. It's an ongoing struggle for me - a never ending battle - but I am going to make it to my goal eventually. TigerMyth, you have been such a motivation for me BTW. I, too, have hit those plateaus & felt somehwat discouraged.

What you have to learn is that frustration is not an excuse to eat.
As I have said, no matter how frustrated I get, I will be on this diet until March 15, 2011.
When I get too frustrated I pop on a suit I bought last year at the peak and the pants drop to my feet. I also wear a belt that has 4 new holes I have cut into it along the way.
Just keep your past success in mind and eventually you will claw through the plateaus.
Or so I hope.

Thanks for the encouragement (especially the "or so I hope" part
) I would try on some of my old clothes as you suggest, except that the minute they started to fall off of me, I raced to the donation box and left them so I wouldn't have any "fat clothes" to fall back on. Right now, I just have to learn how to say no to my lunch buddy who invites me to go eat a lettuce wedge, then when we get to the restaurant wants pizza instead.

That can be tough.
I really wanted to get this weight under control so I really have been in full hermit mode since March. I try not to go out more than 2 times a month and my best friend is definitely not interested in a lettuce wedge.
He keeps asking me to lunch and I finally told him that for a doctor he sure wasn't very observant to the fact I had lost 80 pounds.
He had no idea.

Okay. You are very insightful. I am sure my friend is not interested in a lettuce wedge either...
