About 2 years ago I began to notice a certain funky smell in the Subway's, not real bad, but not real good, anyway, I haven't been back to a Subway in some time so I won't bother ranking them - in fact I don't eat at any of the listed places that you ranked

Is the AM Mart that was mentioned same as the American Market on Nicholson? I want to give it a try.

as far as the big chains go Potbelly dominates them all.

Potbelly is definitely head and shoulders above the rest. We have an Ike's here in Houston, which is quite strong as well.

Haven’t been to a dedicated sub shop since Publix opened nearby, but Jersey Mike’s and Firehouse are a tier above the others you listed.

I recently ate at Newks with co-workers for the 1st time. It was ok, not bad. IMO all these places are close to the same. I had a Subway BMT last night........It's just a sammich, but was fulfilling.
