National Pepperoni Day is celebrated annually on September 20th. The day is dedicated to the popular pizza topping, and many pizza chains and restaurants offer deals, discounts, and promotions to mark the occasion.

Personally, I'm make a pepperoni pizza tonight to celebrate (early).

Ironically, I was requested to make some of my homemade pizza last week and bought a pack of pepperoni to use to make 2 of them and have more than enough to make a couple more.

So, I'll make the dough today, let it proof for a couple hours and get to making a couple more pizzas for tonight.

On a side note, I was very surprised to see pepperoni now costing damn near $10 a lb. when I got the 8 oz. pack last week and it was just under $5.

I used to get a 5 lb pack of high temp pepperoni at Sam's for about $13. They don't carry it any more.

Yesterday, I made the Milk Street recipe for NEAPOLITAN SALAMI-PROVOLONE BUNS. I needed more salami and prosciutto, so I opened some pepperoni that I had for pizzas. Tossed that in with a mix of cheeses, and they turned out great. Very pizza-like rolls.
