This isn’t a knock on you, but threads like this reinforce my opinion that absolutely no simple culinary item gets more over-analyzed than these gotdamn crawfish.

Same here. That's what I do. I might invest in the Crawfish Washer though. Now it seems the boils fall on me for our family.

FTR, I helped friends with a boil this past weekend and they got two sacks from Captain Sids in Bucktown. The crawfish had a lot of silt on their shells so we hosed down in an ice chest twice and pulled the plug to drain, then rinsed out the stuff in bottom of ice chest before dumping the bugs in the skimmer. You definitely dont want a bunch of mud in your boiling pot if you can avoid it. But these were some of the dirtier sacks I had seen in a while (twss).

I'd love to have a High Performance boiler. The attached washer is awesome too. Just don't have the room to store. Maybe I'll think about something like this if I ever get around to building an outdoor kitchen.

I love my HP boiler. I don't know that I would spend the money on their washer tho unless I was catering. I would get the wash bucket, works great IMO.

Nah. 2 oz bleach for every 1 gallon of water.

I have a 12 gallon bucket with a screw on lid that modified into a bucket to wash crawfish. CRefish that are sold as washed are still dirty. I run a sack through my bucket let the water run about 2 minutes and they come out very clean.
