beat Margit, used the shackles and summoned the sorcerer. Went south of Limgrave and explored that whole area, been leveling up and fighting anything that moves. I am sure there are tons of stuff that I am missing, but I am trying to be as thorough as possible.

Game is fantastic. Pretty much the only thing I’ve been playing for like 3 weeks and finally beat it last night.
That said, you can tell they had to rush through some of the tail end content. Instead of unique enemies in the end game regions, they just started copying and pasting a bunch of random ones from all other regions up to that point. Not necessarily a problem, but definitely noticeable.
Might be an unpopular opinion, but I think bosses were the worst of any of the soulsborn games I’ve played. Didn’t even feel like the normal cadence where you study attack patterns, get the timing, and eventually master the encounter. There was so much cheap bullshite that it kind of encourages you to bring out the cheese strats. Like frick it, if the boss is gonna cheat I might as well too, Malenia being a prime example. Sekiro didn’t have a bad boss in the game, and you could feel yourself getting better at the encounter every single time. Didn’t get that same kind of satisfaction / experience beating most of the bosses here
However, the world is fricking great, weapons are really cool, and weapon arts have to be one of the best additions to these games ever.

Beat the Beast for the 2nd time last night to get the Fire ending. Played for a couple of more hours to rush through and get the final ending needed for Platinum. Made it to the Giant boss and struggled, so I called it a night. Should be able to finish tonight.
It's definitely amusing to think how much of the game is optional in order to get through to the end.

You're not wrong. Tons of copy/paste and most fights just end up being a DPS race where you try to dish out as much pain as you can while tanking all the hits you can. You have 100 estus sips so it's usually pretty easy to retreat and heal when necessary. There's no reason to use anything other than Bleed as well, it's too strong.
It's jarring coming from Sekiro where every boss felt like an epic duel and it felt so satisfying to learn the parry and dodge sequences.
I'm basically stuck between Malenia and Maliketh. Not summoning or using Spirit Ash, so it's been a rough go. I can get Malenia down to half in her second phase but I always make a key mistake around that time, I need to learn how to distinguish her levitate attacks. It's just bullshite to me that if you're close to her when she initiates waterfowl dance, you're history. No way to dodge it up close unless you have bloodhound step
The game is honestly too big. They could cut it back to about 70% of its size and roll with all unique content instead of repeat dungeons and bosses and I think it would be 10x better for it

Spot on. Think the lackluster boss fights are a product of the bloat and not having enough resources to refine the encounters.
Sekiro also had the fact that there was only one usable weapon working in its favor, so every fight was fine tuned for that weapon. This game is the literal opposite of that. It’s like because there are so many OP weapon arts and spirit ashes, they had a ton of trouble getting the difficulty right. You can trivialize a ton of encounters with a bleed build and +10 mimic, but with a colossal sword build and no summons that same fight becomes absolutely retarded.

I might be weird but in souls games I never really change my weapon. For elden ring, I have the same longsword that I got in probably the first 10ish hours. I just use that and a shield. Not sure why I play these games like that but it works for me.
I got to the snake boss' 2nd phase in volcano manor and realized I need to just leave and work on the Leyndell area.

If you level up the special weapon found in the boss area and use it, you'll wreck his shite.

shite you don’t even need to level it up. Just spam the L2 to win.

I mostly did this. I played a good chunk of the game with a pickaxe I found early on. Wrecked shite with that thing. I used the grafted blade once I had the stats to weild it with one hand even though two-handeded it quite a bit. Then I used the Ruins greatsword for the last 25% of the game.
I couldn't beat the Elden Beast with the Ruins sword so I went and found the blasphemous blade and then leveled it up so I could get the healing capabilities of its L2 attack.
But yeah, while I didn't stick with one weapon throughout I didn't change very often.

I tried the fight once and completely forgot I picked that up as I walked in. That makes sense. Still want to walk away though because I did see online that some things change in the manor if I kill that guy....so wanna try to knock the manor's other quests before that....which one of the people I need to kill is smack dab in the middle of Leyndell I think.

Got Maliketh last night, really wish that the first phase and second phase had separate health bars. Second phase is one of the the most visually spectacular bosses in recent memory, but it's over so quick once it clicks and you know how to punish him. Bleed is so OP
Still can't beat Malenia tho

I have one shot so many “bosses” in elden ring it’s become a bit disappointing.
I went through some tunnels and found a boss door. Only had 4 heals left. I was worried…as I had been groomed to be regarding these games.
The fight didn’t even last a min. I was actually disappointed. Now I have just accepted it at this point and why it won’t be my favorite FS game. Still great though.

If you think beating up the minor bosses is indicative of the major bosses then oh boy

I did that several times and got him down to one or two hits on his final phase and got smoked. That a-hole somehow keeps backing me into something. I had to take a break and knocked out all but two of the evergaols and then loaded up on the ghost glovewort picker’s bell bearings. I’m going back with a vengeance.

Finally beat Radagon and the beast and got Ranni’s ending. 10/10 game

I finally did it. Beat Malenia solo baby
Level 150 with powerstanced +24 Longswords with Bleed.
It's a really sloppy fight and I made some key errors at the end of her first phase. Her second phase was still giving me lots of trouble at this point but for some reason her moveset kinda started making sense to me during this attempt and I was able to pull it out. 5 total Waterfowl Dance evasions, countless missed dodges, 2 instances where my health was so low that you couldn't see red
It was ugly, but still beat tho

I assume you have your flasks assigned to your hotbar? How do you keep track of how many you have left?

yes, I like the flexibility of not having to fumble through my belt just to get to a red or blue flask.
When you hold the belt button, it shows the quantity

Carson..That was my first time seeing the 2nd phase for her and it looks amazing.
You switched your talisman's out...what was that for? To get more runes?
I'm so far into this game and I still have zero effects on my swords. No bleed or anything like that but I'm wondering if towards the end of the game it's necessary.
