There's a gold scarab talisman you can get in Caelid that grants you 20% more runes. Obviously, it takes up a talisman slot that you could be using for an increase to HP, stamina, defense, whatever. So the trick is to use whatever talismans best fit the fight you're in, then as soon as the fight ends, hurry up and equip the golden scarab so you get the 20% bonus
Malenia normally gives 480K runes, but I got 576K with the talisman. Nice little bonus

Bleed is the most OP effect in the game. Pretty much every boss is susceptible to it and those big chunks of health it rips off are so nice. I honestly think it should be nerfed, I'm not gonna use it on any subsequent playthroughs. That was already a 6min fight with bleed equipped, I imagine it would be a lot longer without it. Go get Blood Slash from Fort Haight in the Mistwood, put it on your weapon of choice, then pick Bleed as your affinity.

Seems like a much better use of the hotbar slots than what I currently have there (i.e. Prattling Pate "Hello" and "Thank You")

I do have this ash of war but when I looked to put it on my sword it shows that my damage will drop significantly. Am I just not understanding how it works?
Will the effect only work if I press the L2 button? I love how I'm like 110 hours into this game and I don't know basics yet...kinda why I love this game.

your base damage will go down, but at high levels you build bleed very fast. being able to destroy chunks of health with just a few swings usually outweighs the raw damage output from other affinities

I beat it on my first try, but I had so much practice with Commander O’Neill that i think I was overly prepared. For those goofy arse minions, I just rushed the dual swords guy, blood slash slammed him, then backstabbed the other one to death

I ended up vaporizing them all with Comet Azur. Took me a few tries to realize it might work.

Elden Ring is the most fun I’ve had with a game in years so far. I’m at the Academy of Raya boss. Will give that boss a shot tomorrow. I’m definitely under leveled compared to what I see other people at so I’m enjoying the challenge

Rune farming takes a massive amount of time when the points start costing 400k at a time as you level up for little advantage.

finally beat her Saturday. moved on to beat the fire giant and maliketh both on second tries. god skin duo was also difficult but manageable. Malenia is just a beast.

I am trying to deal with fat bastard and his brother currently, not much success. Although I took my son's advice this weekend and upgraded Tiche to full strength and she is a tank for me.

yeah let tiche take one and if you can focus the other. use the pillars to create distance if you got an AOE that reaches around it thats a good safe damage method.
