All this has me wanting to run from the hills for anything Microsoft related.
Even typing this message on a Windows PC has me feeling dirty.
I would say, all these studios and their respective games are now dead to me with the possible exception of Starfield, Fallout, and Elder Scrolls -- all three of which I will likely buy on PC off of G2A or some similar website.
frick GamePass, as I will not contribute to the success of that service and encourage Microsoft to acquire even more well established third party publishers.

sony is going to have to play ball if they want to remain relevant. what do they give up? their IP exclusives? that's all they have left pretty much.
The only thing Sony had going for them were exclusives and game sales. Microsoft found a way to make Sony's business model outdated. Maybe not this generation, but definitely next.
I personally think it sucks because I prefer to own my games. I don't want another monthly subscription.

I’m just happy we might get some Activision games other than Call of Duty.
Blizzard don’t know if there is any helping them, still will pick up D4 whenever it releases on PC.

Pay attention people, this is how you melt.

the only way i see it working out with them both existing is if they both mutually agree to make all "exclusives" cross-platform. basically ending "exclusives" all together.
Ain't no way you spend $70b on Activision if you don't get their biggest IPs exclusively.
I imagine that Sony's contracts regarding COD DLC timed exclusivity are what is saving them.

I just buy the games that I really love. Game Pass helps me not buy duds.

I mean there is still a lot of money to be had by allowing Sony to sell those games.
Put them on GamePass Day one and let Sony release a month later.

Sony's contracts regarding COD DLC
The contracts will be interesting. It will depend on how they were written. I assume Sony lawyers were good at what they do.
If the contracts are kept, the next curious thing will be how can MSFT make it more beneficial to Microsoft gaming.
There is no way Sony makes out with status quo, they are going to get screwed somehow.

it'll give them time to think about how they'll want to proceed going forward, we really don't know what phil wants to do once those contracts expire. so far, he's only committed to honoring current agreements. once those contracts expire... who knows.
does sony double down and keep their IPs exclusive, or do they open them up to microsoft so they can co-exist? time will tell.

WTH is the "Metaverse"?
I believe this all started with second life. A dude in Australia took a second loan out on his house to buy 100k of virtual property in a game. People laughed their asses off at him. Until he sold it for half a million.
With current loot boxes and other trash companies have realized you can sell people virtual goods and make millions. The "metaverse" is going to be the biggest scam in human history.

I mean if there is a contract in place they will get those games.
Probably the next one or two COD’s and that’s it.

We'll let you license COD to sell it for PS5 if you let us license GOW to sell on Xbox.

Overwatch 2 news is supposedly dropping the third week of February, and the Overwatch League is supposed to start in April on an early build/version of OW2. Interesting to see what's going to happen in the next few weeks. Will Blizzard really allow the pros to be the only ones playing on an early beta/build of OW2 while the rest of us continue to play 6v6 on OW1?
Wouldn't they want their fans to be playing the same game the pros are? Speculation around the fact a beta might drop in February or March.

To be clear, Microsoft will continue to make Call of Duty and other popular Activision Blizzard titles available on PlayStation through the term of any existing agreement with Activision. And we have committed to Sony that we will also make them available on PlayStation beyond the existing agreement and into the future so that Sony fans can continue to enjoy the games they love. We are also interested in taking similar steps to support Nintendo’s successful platform. We believe this is the right thing for the industry, for gamers and for our business.

Again.
Making big time multiplayer games that reap massive amounts of cash..like billions.. from micro transactions and season passes exclusive to one console is not going to happen.
They likely bought the companies because they are making a killing from said transactions. Activision/blizzard was trending down and Microsoft jumped at the right time.

Microsoft probably wanted Call of Duty on Xbox Game Pass. That alone is going to get a shite ton of new subscribers.
