I disagree. While I don't want my non-puzzle games to morph into puzzle games, I really appreciate sections that involve meaningful action outside of combat. Whether that's puzzles, landscape traversal (which can be a kind of puzzle), or NPC interaction, I like having breaks from the intensity. Otherwise, the world starts to feel fake to me. Put another way, I would prefer short bursts of intense, interesting combat than a slow slog of boring combat punctuated by interesting combat.
