Been a little while since Beaver Creek and Santa Maria were updated. Looking to get out on Friday.
Anyone been out to either of those recently?

Beaver's greens were in great shape, emphasis on "green" with the fertilizer. Much slicker than they looked as well.

Played Santa Maria today.
Greens were good/great for late December.
But damn the pin placements today were impossible!

Played Beaver Friday- greens were in great shape! Rolled true and fast.
Played Copper Mill Saturday-greens were great and rolled faster than the last time I played. Place was packed!
Played 9 at Santa Maria this morning-greens were slower but I teed off early and they were still damp, tee boxes were pretty rough.

Should I keep updating the OP during the winter or just wait until spring when the grass is growing again?

Not Baton Rouge but played Belle Terre yesterday and the greens were in good shape. Not real fast but they rolled well. Hopefully they can keep it going, the bunkers were in good condition also.

Soon the “Poa” report will start being the dominant topic for greens. Hopefully, the courses can keep it contained.

Second this comment after playing today. Greens were rolling the fastest I've seen since they reopened.

Why in the world would a greens keeper not apply prodiamine or other chemicals that control it I don’t know
My back yard is free of it 3yrs. If I see it I hit it with negate

Because what works in your yard isn't labeled for golf course greens. That right there is why golfers shouldn't question superintendents.

The poa has begun to mutate to resist all the usual treatments.

If only it were that easy. New chemicals come out each year to treat the new mutations. Your yard grass does not get the contamination, fertilizer, water that greens get.
Pelican Point will be without any Poa with the new grass.

WHERE TO USE
Barricade 4FL is a selective preemergence herbicide that provides residual control of many grass
and broadleaf weeds in:
•Established turfgrasses (excluding golf course putting greens), lawns, and sod nurseries
There are several chemicals on the market that will prevent/kill Poa in home lawns, tees, fairways and roughs but not on greens. Most herbicides labeled for greens have become resistant from over use.
The few pre emerge herbicides that are labeled for greens (pronamide and methiozolin) are not 100% effective and many environmental factors dictate there success.

Unfortunately this is not the case. One company has developed a new product that takes Poa out bentgrass and it has been used as a pre emerge on Bermuda putting greens with mixed success. I’m told you have to sign a waiver before purchasing.

I reference this thread all the time. Keeping it updated for the winter as well would be fantastic if it's not too much trouble.
From a former field engineer myself, thanks for doing this!

I’ve been slacking lately, but happy to keep it up.
Not an engineer here. Used to be a traveling software “engineer”, and that was my title. Used it because I never planned to post. I should change it.

Played Carter today and the greens are in great shape. The course overall is fantastic, as well. Fairways still green and plenty of grass.

Greystone's greens are in excellent condition. They had been unusually fast for weeks, but have now slowed down just a bit. Probably closer to normal now.

Played The Island today. Greens rolled nice, were in good shape and were pretty receptive. The practice green was pretty on point with the rest of the course. Not as fast as UClub, but still rolled well.
However, they must have had a run of slap dicks over the holidays playing. I’ve never seen that many unfixed ball marks on the greens there. It looked like Copper used too.
The gold tee boxes looked like a Bourbon St whore…. They were pretty beat up.
Overall the course was in pretty good shape as well as the greens.

Played Clark today. The greens are playable, but they’re getting kind of rough. I’d rate them poor to fair condition. Hole 5 is still the worst, but there is trouble on lots of them now.
