Santa Maria is in pretty good shape for this time of year.

Played Beaver today. Tee boxes are as hard as concrete, fairways are in great shape and most divots seem to be filled in with sand. Many of the bunkers have no sand in them and is like hitting off of hardpan and the greens are slower and full of poa.

Played Monday and can confirm this. Bring a hammer drill for the tee box and avoid bunkers like the plague. Fairways though… my word they were soft and plush and a damn pleasure to hit off of.. 14 can still bite my arse

Played Webb today and was really disappointed. I don’t think I’ve ever seen greens in such bad condition.

What’s wrong with them? Weeds? Dirt? Too fast? I’m going play this afternoon at Webb - should I cancel?

The greens are more hard bare dirt than anything. Some of them have some grass growing, but it’s spotty. They also aren’t smooth at all, so your putt can hit a ridge or pitch mark and change directions.

You can still have a fun time there, but know you’ll be screwed on some putts.

50k rounds a year or whatever it is happened.

It honestly looks like some of greens may have died from the freeze or maybe the wrong chemical got mixed in. I have no idea.

Like I said, you can still have a fun round there. Just know what you’re getting into with the greens. Maybe mark it as a practice round so it doesn’t affect your GHIN.

Eh, I think I'll just go to Santa Maria instead. It's closer to my home anyway. I don't mind paying a little bit more to play on a golf course that's well maintained.

I used to say that, but I actually have that hole figured out. I am a pretty straight hitter off the tee, sometimes go left, and rarely slice (I used to hit nothing but slices) but I CAN hit a slice on command.

I play the blues and the last 2 times I have played there, I aimed left of the fairway and hit about a three-quarters swing driver that faded perfectly and ended up about 10-15 yards short of the muck in perfect position each time.

Now if we want to nominate holes on that course that can frick right off, I present 15. 185 yards is a horrible distance for me.

I always end up left on this hole… Monday I managed to catch the cart path and I was so far left that I was damn near to the ladies tee on 13. Needless to say it was a chip back then I was hitting 3 over that horrendous hazard area. Hate that hole.

truth. It’s an awkward distance for me as well. Usually hitting 6i at it… but I struggle with long irons

My 7w is my 185-195 club. I only hit 5i to punch out or lay up on par 5’s.
