I agree, it’s not an age thing. I think it’s more of an uptight, head in my own arse type thing

Play the music.

Nothing wrong with music. If I’m playing by myself I will typically wear earbuds.

If I’m playing with someone else I usually use the UE boom speaker.

If I forget my speaker Typically whomever I’m playing with has brought their own anyway.

Maybe a product of being younger (33) but music so long as it’s not rap is nice on the course.

It's golf. It's a game for fun and enjoyment. Get over it.

edit:

My pet peeve are people who take the game super fricking serious and are 16 handicaps. Sound like you?

I dont enjoy playing without some type of music going.... granted mine can only be heard within a 10 yard radius of my cart. I also understand if its a tournament and I'm paired with other golfers. I'll ask if it's ok with them and I'll let them pick the station.

If a little music or people not watching your every putt on the green bothers you that much... I dont think you get much enjoyment out of the game either way, but different strokes for different folks I guess.

I don't understand the walking off the green/tee box complaint. That shouldn't affect you at all.

I can totally understand the music complaint. If you're easily distracted and hearing music when you're over the ball bothers you then you should ask to turn it off. No issue there imo.

I have a UE boom speaker that I use and I keep it at a low volume. If we come close to another group I will turn it off even though I know they can’t hear it. I hate people that play it so loud you can hear it from across the fairway.

I’m 59 and don’t mind music on the course. Just keep the volume down enough where the groups ahead and behind you can’t hear it. I listen to mostly classic rock, Texas Country, and Motown but can handle anything but rap and techno. I have a small cube speaker I put in the cart to listen.

Yep, I've been playing the Black Keys channel on Pandora out on the course lately. Pandora is hit or miss though. Some good songs, some not so good songs.

Biggest pet peeve is slow players who do not have enough awareness to either speed up or let a faster group play through. Nothing else comes close.

This.

I am fine with music if at a reasonable volume that can't be heard by other groups on the course.

And walking off the green early? Come on, man. You just suck at putting.

I've got music coming from the speakers in my cart from the moment I leave the house.

It should only be heard around the cart.

Agreed, how is music in a cart played at a respectful level any different than doing the same while fishing, another hobby where one would enjoy quiet and solitude.

It’s not a young thing, some people just need to let go and just have fun with the game and stop being so serious. Fowler for one thing plays music when he is banging it around playing and practicing. I’m 46 and my wonderboom goes with me on every course. I have a 20yr old son that taught me that, and he plays everyday just about. Even when practicing at the house we have the music going.

I'm 32 and not a fan of it. I won't tell anybody to stop while we are on the course, but I just prefer the sounds of the course. This thread is a good example to me of why I think it's better for people to use earbuds if they want to listen to something. There are multiple posts with people saying they have no problem with it as long is it isn't ____. Music is extremely subjective. We have some incredible wireless headphones these days. If someone enjoys the game more with music, there's a very easy way to make sure you're the only one that hears it.

Again, I won't be the guy that complains on the course, but I just prefer no music.

I’m 35, played for 25 years, mostly competitive until mid college. It took me years to enjoy golf for what it could be without competition.

Now I like a few drinks and music. It’s much more enjoyable that way.
And I play better with a little distraction.
