Does he get to pick his tees? And is that long for a 12 year old?

He is not a normal 12 year old golfer.

They may not use Tigers drive all day.

He does not get to pick. It’s based on age. Yes. That is long for a 12 year old.

That’s a tee for me.
I’m not a big hitter.
I bet Charlie can hit it past me.

He’s good.

Really not crazy. It would be interesting to see his carry yardage per club.

Part of getting a “teaching pro” card, is to break 80 back to back on a 6000 yard golf course depending on the course rating.

Golf is hard.

I have only seen a couple of 12 year olds that were equipped to handle a 6,000 course. And I have seen way too much junior golf.

Most on this board would be pressed to break 80 in tournament conditions at 6,000 yards.

Reference for anyone familiar. Querbes in Shreveport is 6017 yards from the tips.

If he is 12 years old he’s playing a little bit longer than normal 12-year-olds. US kids 18 hole tournaments for 12-year-olds typically play 5400 yards. The same tournaments play 6000 yards for 13-year-olds. While it’s a little longer than normal for his age, it’s really not that big of a deal for 12 year olds that are long. Obviously it hurts the smaller kids much more.

Yeah, most courses have their mid-handicap lengths around 6200-6500.

I don't know if that is a criteria anymore. I tried to sign up for a PAT event and there are none scheduled in the USA at any time going forward.

JT Dad said Tiger is not full speed.

Charlie can pound it.

Next time I see you, I'll give you a PAT on the back. Will that work??

I passed my PAT on a 6800+ yard course. No way a 6000 yard course hosts a PAT. Everybody would pass it.

That’s great.

“ In order for the competition to take place, the course must have a minimum USGA course rating 68.0 for both men and women. Men under age 50 will play from a minimum of 6,350 yards to a maximum of 6,700 yards, while Women under age 50 will play from a minimum of 5,400 yards to a maximum of 5,700 yards. Men age 50 and over will play from 94% of the Men’s under age 50 yardage and Women age 50 and over will play from 94% of the Women’s under age 50 yardage, while retaining the Men’s and Women’s under age 50 target score.”

I would not pass it unless I really improved.

I average 86.
I’m a 10.
I break 80 every now and then, and never back to back.

Not really on topic but I didn’t think it was worth another thread. Is Charlie not wearing Nike on purpose? Is he trying to remain agnostic to brands for a reason? No logos on todays clothes and obviously the puma shoes. Just wondering if it’s a personal choice or if maybe there’s a “legal” issue in terms of his amateur status and/or college eligibility.
