Man I don’t remember which weight and stiffness he ended up putting me in.
He said I was right on the line for stiff and extra stiff (swing speed 105).
I think we ended up going extra stiff he said it was more consistent for me.
Overall, I’m super happy with the driver and shaft, the results were obvious and he said he’d wave the fitting fee.
I think I’m just going to bite the bullet and buy it, if I don’t whatever I end up going with I’ll always feel like it’s inferior.
my wife and I do a monthly budget, I’m just going to give myself $50 less in my budget for hobbies over the next year

performed the best. My question is, is that what a new custom fit driver and shaft costs now a days? Am I insane to consider spending that much $$$ on a golf club?
It is what it is.
Things get expensive when personalized. mine was just North of $800 last year.

That’s just an insane amount for a driver.

Yea but I mean, they’re $600 off the rack right now.
shite’s just expensive and I don’t think stuff is going to get cheaper soon
But yea it’s insane which is why I started this thread

I gave you a $450 option… hell, I’ll build it for you and you give me $100.
I’ll do $600 out the door

I just bought a Sub70 for $330. It should be here next week.

A TSR2 Driver with a Graphite Design DI6 shaft is 799.00 plus tax.
If you were able to buy the components on ebay, you should be able to get the Adapter, Grip and Assembly for less than a 100.00 at any golf shop.

Well that’s basically the same price he quoted me

You did give me a cheaper option I’m still thinking about it

It’s all relative, but is the $2-300 you save going to provide any meaningful benefit vs the club you feel like you were fitted for by the person you trust? If $2-300 is a lot of money, by all means piece it together. If it is nothing more than one skipped Friday night dinner out, quit playing mental gymnastics and just buy it.

The comments on this thread are hilarious. For one I’d never allow people on this board to guide you on switching to a different shaft lol. The new titleist driver is about 600 out the door after taxes. I have one. Also, the Ventus shafts are 2nd to none out there. Are there comps to it that may be similar and slightly cheaper? Yep, but you’re gonna trust someone on this board at their word on what is comparable? Is the driver worth 900? 40 yard gain, professional build, and the confidence you have the right equipment? Yeah I’d say so. What you can do is go on Facebook or eBay and they do sell these shafts and you can have them add an adapter for you. You’ll find them slightly cheaper on eBay or marketplace but is it really worth going through all that? Coming from a guy who’s done it I’d say no

If you are serious about your game, buy it from him and it should be built correctly. Sourcing components yourself most likely will not result in the same swing weight.

Probably better to get last years club head and bring it to him to build with the right shaft

I think this is where I am.
Whatever I buy and build won’t be as good.
What I’ve gathered from this thread is that yes the club is very expensive, but it’s expensive because it’s a very nice club and exactly what I need, it’s not marked up a crazy amount or way overpriced because it’s a brand name. That’s what a really nice custom built driver costs now. And while I couldn’t have imagined spending that much money on a golf club a few years ago, I have the money and it’s what I want, so I’m pulling the trigger.

The old saying “penny wise and pound foolish”, applies here. You could end up spending $600-$700 and getting it wrong, rather than pay the extra $200-$300 and having peace of mind. It’s an easy decision in my mind.

Get a yellow and blue head cover.
Apply for “Ukraine” money.
“Hit bombs for Ukraine.”
The US Government should invest in this club. Our democracy is at stake .
This driver will reduce your carbon footprint too so apply for global warming money.
