Will the PGA take them back? Didn’t they get lifetime bans?
Their current policy is a 1 year ban. I’m sure they’d work with Koepka

Jim how do you feel about the ratings for LIV and their viability as a product for the future in mainstream golf?

1 year ban I believe but I'm sure the tour would work with them.
I believe Rham and Brooks are back after this season.

The issue for LIV is the player contracts, several of which I think are expiring in the next year or two. Will the PIF double down on the investment and throw big money at guys like Brooks/Bryson again? You could certainly understand why they wouldn’t want to. If a few of those expire and they jump ship back to the PGA the thing is toast

Rahm is in year 2 of his contract. No chance. I wouldn’t be surprised if Koepka goes back.

Tried to watch some of it this weekend, hard to do with all the scoring, teams and what not. Noticed none of em were wearing shorts. I love golf and watching golf but give me the LPGA before I watch that LIV crap again.

Ratings were lower than expected, but still their best numbers is US yet.
LIV isn’t going anywhere anytime soon regardless of their numbers of viewers in US.

Scott O'Neil said his Saudi Arabian bosses have "a long, patient" view for LIV Golf and that a deal to unify the pro game would be welcome but isn’t necessary for his league.

Is this correct on players contracts that are worth bringing back to the PGA?
Rahm - expires in 2027
Cam Smith - expires in 2026
Bryson - expires in 2026
Koepka - expires in 2025
If I’m the PGA, I wait those contracts out and watch LIV implode on itself. Will be interesting to see how much money the Saudis will truly want to lose.

I don’t think they care about losing money, but I would imagine they care about being embarrassed
And spending billions to continually fail is an embarrassment

Do we know how legitimate these views are for LIV? I literally know of no one who cares about or watches LIV golf. Where are these 400k people at?

Did we ever find out if Fox paid LIV or did LIV pay Fox?
Yes, FOX paid LIV for the multi year deal.
quote:
Fox was paying a "modest" rights fee to LIV, which was also undertaking all production costs, a notable expense. Additionally, Puck hinted that a larger "master plan" by Fox was at work with the LIV partnership, as the network is in the running for the rights to the 2034 FIFA World Cup, held in Saudi Arabia. LIV is backed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.

So LIV pays for the production costs?

I don't watch LIV but I did enjoy the Duels event on Grant's channel and that's had 1.4 million views. I'm still hoping for a merger of LIV and PGA.
Go look at Grant's views on his channel (where this event aired). He does 2 million+ on a lot of his videos. His lesser watched videos are still doing around a million views now. Most recently, his 2v2 with Phil, Joh Daly, and Little John did 2.7 million. His 1v1 against Justin Thomas did 2 million.
Grant's channel is the most watched youtube golf channel on the market currently. It was smart of LIV to let his channel host the event

LIV posts atrocious ratings for Miami

There is no possible spin here. Those ratings are shocking.
I mean you’re the one trying to spin these numbers here
You could state the fact that LIV Miami viewers are up (119%) on FOX compared to last year on the CW.
While Valero is down (20%) from last year

nobody gives a shite about liv here. It’s a completely dead product
So when are they canceling TGL?

Oh good, another one of these threads. Been a while since we had one.
I watched some of both on Sunday. Good leaderboard at LIV Miami. Awful field in San Antonio. Happy for Leish. Happy for Harman. Very few of the guys in the LIV field in Miami would have been in the field in San Antonio, so this isn't a week where I feel shortchanged because of the LIV defectors.
I would like a deal to be struck and everyone compete in a worldwide tour where there are like 8 events spread over the year in addition to the majors. PGA Tour and LIV can stick around for the rest of the year for the golf junkies to watch.

At a certain point they definitely care about losing money
If the league were making progress and gaining more of a foothold I think they’d be willing to keep subsidizing losses past the expiry of these big contracts in hopes it could turn the corner. Hard to argue that’s been the case though
