How is it shocking?

He hasn't had the greatest year since winning the match play way back in the spring. He went 0-2-3 in the President's cup. Fred Couples said that Cam Young was definitely going to Italy. Keegan Bradley had arguably a better season and has Ryder Cup experience.

I am not saying Burns shouldn't be on the team, but there were a lot of arguments against him that I thought would be tough to overcome. I am happy he is going, though.

know this is an LSU homer board but Keegan was a better fit than Burns.

To me this was the outlier of CZJ picks. All the others seemed to fall in the "everything being equal... Go with experience". Keegan has some experience ,. But I can't fault the burns pick...can't fault the JT pick ... That being said, wouldn't fault him if he left JT off for Keegan or Young

Seems to me Zach took members of the 20-something-big-name-players-only-club, possibly for camaraderie. If you weren’t in the club, you weren’t getting in.

Burns is one of my favorite players but he hasn’t done enough in big tournaments (majors, presidents cup) to pick him over guys who are playing better.

JT is a big risk/reward play, I can see an argument for that.

There were cases to be made for players who weren’t picked, but I don’t feel like anyone got snubbed.

Patrick Reed would have been a better pick than Burns or JT, yes, he's an a-hole, but pair him against Rory in every match and he would do well. He's 7-3-2 in the Ryder Cup. His two loses are when he was paired with Tiger.

I think getting the hottest players would make sense if it was next week.

In the case of Glover he has been good for a very long time tee to green, and possibly the worst putter on tour. Now that he is a decent putter I think he would have been an asset to the team.

Reed wasn't even tolerated last Ryder Cup to be a teammate. Now, he is one of the main guys filing lawsuits against the PGA Tour. The podcasts I have listened to have said that the PGA players are ok with the LIV guys that just went over, but the guys filing suits are their main problems.

Reed wasn’t I even chosen in 2021. He will never ever be a chosen Ryder cup player regardless of LIV. His only chance is to auto qualify

JT is not really on form,

Ya think?

This pick reminds me of Lanny Wadkins' famous Curtis Strange pic in '95. Strange was a predictable flop garnering no points and the team lost by 1.

Burns and Spieth had better figure out fast how to hit a fairway or they won't be of much value either.

The others I have no issue with.

how is Jordan Spieth no. 27 in the Fed Ex Cup and no. 12 in the World Golf Rankings?

This question is so stupid I’m thinking you meant something else, but I know you didn’t

Oh, I agree with you, he will never be chosen, just saying if you want to win the Ryder Cup, he's one hell of a Ryder Cup player. If you want to go have a good time in Italy and hang out with your buddies, pick your friends. Don't expect to win the Ryder Cup that way though.

The recent us success is literally due to doing the exact opposite of what you said

We used to simply pick the best golfers and think about nothing else. Azinger les the European like blueprint of actually making a true team

I thought their recent success was because of the pod system. Anyway, we will see. JT has missed 6 out of the last 12 cuts this year. Maybe he gets hot in late September and has a great week, just think the last two picks could have been on better players. That's my opinion only.

I’m not in love with the JT pick personally, but if follows the blueprint

JT wasn’t even the best JT on tour this year (Poston)

Can you imagine how bad the team would be if Zach had all 12 picks?

I thought that was what everybody complained about for years. That the U.S. Team never had any unity like the European team. And now, all of these guys play a ton of golf together outside of the tour, people are complaining about them being friends.

Go figure.
