This is what I settled on. I may end playing two days, but that’ll be a last minute decision.

Panther Lake was my favorite of the 2 at OCGC

I’m playing the other one. Looked a little easier.

Yeah, Crooked Cat is definitely easier. I always felt like I could never find a flat lie on Panther Lake in the fairways and there wasn’t a boring hole at all. But both are fun tracks.

You should enjoy that. Crooked Cat has just reopened to tremendous reviews. All greens totally replaced.
Panther Lake is my favorite of the two, but both are excellent.

This over the Disney courses, especially for the price. I've always preferred Panther Lake. Crooked Cat has some shots that have gotten in my head over the years. I did play CC last week for the first time after the refurbishment and it's in primo condition right now.

Any tips for the course?

12 & 13 can ruin my day quickly.
On 12, unless you're pretty accurate with your driver, it'll be iron off the tee and then a blind second shot from a bad angle into a long skinny green with water immediately to the right. Too far left and you've got a downhill chip from the rough. I'm usually happy with bogey on 12. If you hit driver stay left of the waste area and you'll have a good angle on the green.
13 is a long par 3, all carry over the water and front bunkers to an elevated green. Take a club or two more than you think you'll need depending on the wind and play for the middle of the green and ignore the flag. I've lost way too many balls on 13.

recommend playing Evermore (old Grand Cypress course) - on top of WDW - Disney Springs
2 course on property

I can’t recommend this course enough, even though it kicked my arse. It was very windy when I played, so that didn’t help. I started off with a 42 on the front 9, which is decent for me on an unfamiliar course. Everything fell apart on the back 9 though.

Been there, done that. I miss the days before they built all the houses around the course, just orange groves for miles. I spent so many Friday afternoons out there in my 20's on a mostly empty course. Play the tooth to warm up, front 9 on CC and then over to Panther Lake.

I did feel different before the houses. I guess you can’t stop “progress.” That area is the latest development boom. Independence and Hamlin area growth is crazy.

How was your trip?
Which courses did you end up playing and what were your impressions? Always interested in getting an outside perspective.
You had a great initial list. If you played those courses, you had some good golf.

Trip was great. I only had time for one round though, so I only played Crooked Cat.

I played Champions Gate International, Grand Cypress and Disney Palms about 4 years ago on a Disney trip. All three courses were great. I really liked the International Course at Champions Gate. If I ever go back I will play the National course.
The Palms course was a typical parkland country club style course nothing overly special. The course conditions were fantastic at all three courses, the local courses I play at home are goat tracks compared to those three. None of the courses seemed to be overly slow. Grand Cypress had probably the worst rough to play out of but I think that is due to the style of course it and is intentional. Grand Cypress is a links course designed by Nicklas inspired by St. Andrews. All the greens are double greens with a ridge in the middle to separate the holes. If are accurate enough with your approach shots you can aim at the proper side of the ridge and the ball will move to the hole. I ain't that good but it was fun to try.
CG International and Palms have the widest fairways I think I've ever
played. I hit some really bad drives on both and was still in the fairway. The rough on both of these courses was better than some fairways I play regularly.
I wouldn't hesitate to play all three courses again on another trip. I had originally planned to play the magnolia course on that trip but it was closed for renovation so I opted for Palms.

Good courses. The Disney courses are hit or miss. LBV was my favorite of the bunch, but lately, conditions are not great and the pace of play is stupid long. There are a lot of other courses I’d play before Disney. I still think Orange County National is one of the best options in the area and close to Disney.

Played LBV today with my sons (11,7).
Pace of play fine for us, we’re slow, but probably faster than kids who never play, they play a lot of junior tournaments.
Greens are overseeded in rye, maybe rolling 6-7 at best. Ate my 11 year old up, he didn’t get many to the hole after being more used to the 10-11+ we’ve been rolling at Le Triomphe lately.
Talked to the guys working the course, they had an issue with disease awhile back and had to shut the course down and rework the greens. It was fine for us, but if you’re super serious, I would avoid LBV for now
We had fun, but not worth the Disney golf prices, IMO
