Snell MTBX as the primary and Srixon V star as the backup
Haven't measured my SS in years. I go by feel and ball height on my shafts.
I am 64 now and My 7 iron is 165 carry

I’ll make one point about the distances based on a numbered iron... My 7 iron is 33°. The Callaway Mavrik 7i is 27°.
Yep, I play with T300s and my 7 iron is 29 degrees of loft, which I would imagine is your 6 iron
I still haven't played with a range finder, just know that I tee off with my 7 iron on the first par 3 at my home course and it fluctuates between 170-180. I can usually hit it pin high or over the green on a flush hit. I sit the ball on a buried tee though, probably not quite as far off the fairway.
I don't think I've ever made flush contact swinging as hard as I can.

Don’t get me wrong though. These jacked irons are meant to keep guys in the game longer by hitting longer and (more importantly) higher as they lose the ability to generate spin. There’s so much weight at the bottom of these irons to get the ball in the air that the lofts have to be jacked to make the gaps right because the spin is already so low. It’s just where we are with technology.

Srixon Z star, but I think my local wal mart stockers have fricked something up because they're $24 per dozen
Previous year model or older, if I had to guess. Nothing wrong with them though

Yes. Bridgestone TourB X.
Controlled driver is about 107-110. 7 iron about 175.
Carry on driver? SS on 7 iron? Just curious. I am going for a driver fitting on Friday. Last time was around 108 but have been losing distance to spin on my driver.
7 iron SS is 88-90 so around 170 carry at 33 degrees of loft.
Also, I am thinking about switching from Chromesoft. What are the characteristics about this ball that made you choose it?

I go between a few mid priced balls.
Calloway HEX Tour Soft
Srixon Soft Feel
Bridgestone E6
I like all these. If you notice, I stick to the softer balls. Like the way they play around the green.

Srixon Z star XV
Unless I find a Pro V1, TP5, Bridgestone B RX or something along those lines. Then I'll play what I find

Agree 100%. All the others are pretty close for me, never had a good feel for these at all.

I don't disagree, just not sure which ball to go to. I am going to ask for a ball fitting or whatever I can get on Friday for a recommendation.

Carry on driver?

SS on 7 iron?

Bebu, I have been singing Bhudda's praises for a couple of years now.

quote:Straighter flight with woods and long irons. Doesn’t balloon or get manipulated by wind. And I don’t feel like I’m sacrificing spin with the mid irons to wedges. Most people think it feels too hard especially with a putter but my putter is soft so I barely notice.
