Just saw that Sam Sulek took the overall for Men's Classic Physique at the Arnold Amateur. Pretty impressive for that guy in his 2nd ever competition. Obviously his popularity blew up in the recent 1-2 years on social media.

I never really followed too much bodybuilding stuff but our medical assistant at work competes in bikini. She's trying to potentially get her pro card this summer. Just watching her diet discipline is unreal! I can't pass up the King Cake or boudin that people bring to work.

I’ve been watching Sam for the better part of the last year, and he is one of the more down to earth fitness influencers out there. Has taught me a lot that’s helped on my body recomp journey and weightlifting success so far.

Yes, he’s on gear, but he’s supposed to be with the plan he’s executing. And good for him!

He is very wise beyond his years and also gives out good workout advice in each of his videos. Obviously he’s geared up but most of the advice is still applicable. Dude works really hard and really consistently but some people will still just chop it up to “he’s on steroids.”

I’m anxious to see what supplement company picks him up. He didn’t renew his contract with Hostile.

Also after becoming a pro, I’m sure he will get a coach and not be doing all of this himself.

Hope he ends up training with Hany/Bumstead and tags along with their supplement lines Evogen or Raw.

Hopefully he will do the smart thing and hire Lyle

‘Coaches’ are what ruined physiques and bodybuilding. I can’t image paying attention to this stuff. Does anyone really want to look like these guys now? They look awful and are extremely unhealthy. All of them.

Who wouldn't want Bumstead's physique?

Look up "classic physique." It's the Arnold era style of physique. This is the bracket that most people follow these days.

I know exactly what it is. No, I have no desire to look like Chris Bumstead and he’s retired for a reason. What he was doing isn’t healthy and I’m pretty sure he openly talked about his Tren use and why he stopped using it.

Squatch she already won an overall at a show in 2023. She could have gone to a national competition that year.

If I could wave the magic wand, I would love to look like some of these guys before they start their cut. But the dehydrated, spray tan, looks horrible.

He’s slimmed down quite a bit and I’m sure he’ll be getting coached strictly now so I don’t see why he wouldn’t.

He was hanging out with Bumstead. I think it would really cool if he took Sam under his wing and showed him the ropes. Bumstead seems like he would be the kind of guy to do that.

But like Uncle said, I think now that he is a Pro, he'll get some legit coaching, new supplement deal, etc.

Gotta give it to him. He’s done one hell of a job getting to where he is without proper coaching and dirty bulking.

With the pure volume of strength training information out there these days, as in most DIY spaces, I think you can get 50%-75% there with just YouTube videos. Maybe 20-25% more with personal experience, then every other influence is bumping up those marginal gains. Quite amazing TBF

It's more about accountability, having another set of eyes, someone with experience with nutrition and steroids, and he'll need someone to fine tune his posing.

But Uncle you are right. For doing this mainly solo, it is definitely impressive. That is what the guys on the Think Big Bodybuilding podcast were most impressed with. Kind of an old school approach to things. Lift heavy, lift often, eat a shite ton of food and add some gear.
