Well yeah. They're looking to repair that fracture after falling.

Yeah no safeties here, but these are bumper plates and wouldn’t have harmed anything to dump them on the floor
Absolutely. I squat heavy by myself in my garage with bumpers on a horse mat. If you’re going to miss the lift, dump it. Alternatively, just use safety bars or safety straps.
This death was so stupid on so many levels. He would have been much better with no spotter at all.

Squat with safety bars and just set it down if you fail, or learn to bail from a back squat.
Spot on. Literally. Spotting a dude squatting heavy from behind is very awkward if you are doing it correctly if they start to struggle because you literally become part of the lift if you engage properly. I actually hate doing it and very rarely even ask for a spot myself if
I am going heavy. I just set the safety bars to where if I can't move it out of the hole I just set it down. This is where my miss usually comes from as well as most other lifters. That just needs to be communicated beforehand on what both lifter and spotter are going to do. Where shite gets tricky is when you get almost ready to rack and then things go haywire. You either lose balance or can't get the bar back on the rack properly and at that point you have to let it go off the back and as we all know, that is going to cause a spectacle in the gym.

Kinda jealous of a person who gets to die doing what he loves
Most of us on here are probably gonna die in the fema camp after this next election. This site looks bad on your social credit report

If they have power racks and protein (whey isolate only) shakes at the FEMA camp, I’d be ok with that.

Getting an inept reach around from a stranger?

I just bail on it. I don’t understand why you need a spot for a back or front squat. Am I looking at it wrong? Should I reconsider that? That video really got me thinking.

I don't blame the spotter
He wasn’t a help
But knowing how to dump weight properly is essential to squatting heavy
I pulled that move not dumping it straight back, the bar hit the back my head as I fell forward
That was a self correcting mistake
12+ years later never again

Then trap bar deadlift

You should be able to bail out without injuring yourself. If you can’t bail out at that depth with that weight then lighten it up. He can only blame himself imo

If you don’t dump it before your chest starts collapsing, that’s trouble. Too late at that point.

RIP to the guy but that’s not on the spotter. You need to be in a safety rack hitting squats that high. Unless you have Ronnie Coleman spotting you you’re on the floor at best with a bruised ego and at worst you end up like this.
Get in a rack with pins or learn how to dump a lift off your back if you have bumper plates.

It is wrong to spot that way, right? Competitions they have a guy on each side. Luckily I’ve never failed a squat. I’ve come close on squatober and on a 10rpe test on JuggernautAI. It was a 6 rep max test and I was tasting blood.
