Don’t understand this logic. Weather is the one thing you’ll never control. Either you’re trained for a marathon or you’re not. What’s the worst that can happen. You don’t hit that PR. Oh well but you gained experience for the next one if you get another opportunity. Life is short
This, weather is just weather.
In January getting the flu is bad, sickness is just terrible, but the weather? Ya gotta YOLO that race
ETA, PS: KS I have my first backyard ultra this weekend! For now I'm going for the win!

I’d rather not go out and have another 4 hour marathon. I just did one and it sucked. While I’m prepared for one, it was either a PR type outing or not do it. I run like shite in warmer weather and while I could go under 4 hours, my 3:30-3:35 goal isn’t going to happen under those conditions.
I was probably pressing my luck with my AFib crap so my wife and cardiologist will be happy that I opted to reduce mileage and intensity for a little while. So yeah, I get the life is short part but between the heart and my shitty knees I only have so many more of these races in me and I’d rather not waste one on a “I did it” kinda of event.

Root canal went a little faster than expected so I got to sneak in 45 minutes zone 2 this afternoon.

Holy shite, bought a pair of the Asics Superblast 3. If you like the 1 and 2, you'll love the 3. The midsole foam that comes from the metaspeed is amazing. I don't know how to explain it other than it's immediately cushiony but has great energy return. Can't wait to put some more miles on them to see how long they hold up.
So far, great shoe.

First 5k run/walk since tearing my Achilles, having it repaired, tearing it again, and having it repaired again with an FHL transfer little under 8 months ago, just under 40 minutes. Not fast but proud enough of making it the whole way to post it lol. Hoping to run a 10k race sometime in 2026

I know this group isn't probably super big into Jeffing but for the running community as a whole we should all pour one out for Jeff Galloway tonight. Dude probably brought more people into running than any other person. Almost everyone I talk to started their journey doing run/walk, he was a huge force behind changing people's opinions about "walking breaks". So whether you ever did run/walk or not, hear! hear!

Well, you can run a marathon or you can complete a marathon. I'll take the former.

Galloway was a beast. He ran 2:16 with walk breaks. What a monster!
I've still been chugging along with my 40mpw, 2 workouts and a long run per week. It's to a point now where both my Garmin and the intervals.icu site are telling me to increase my training load. I'll have to turn that rest day into another easy run and eventually add a third workout.

I had hardly ran any amount most of my adult life although I worked out off and on regularly. At 48 after several years of not working out i decided to change my health and started walking, got bored and started running and a buddy told me to sign up for a 5k.
I ran a 5k and the same buddy told me to sign up for louisiana half, I started training for the half and decided to run the full when I came across an article about his run walk method. I ran the full without walking out of pride but only signed up cus I felt like if nothing else I could do the 16-20 miles running and walk run the last miles if I had too.
I walked ran this year and was only 10min slower than last years pace but my recovery allowed me to run 30miles of a 50 three weeks later.

Yeah, sad loss to the running world.
BTW, one of the runDisney 5k's was today. Sooo many people posting laid out on the ground pics, like they ran an ultra. I'll say it again, i love that these people who would otherwise be sitting on the coach eating bon bons are being active. But acting like you just beat Kipchoge because you walked a 5k is absurd.

14 at zone 2, took almost 2.5 hours but it was a perfect morning for it. Doing the Montgomery half in 2 weeks since it's a pretty fun race so I'll start backing off mileage. First race since the injury last year and that excitement is starting to hit now.
