W2D2 was a quick one.

I had to rush through it to get home to the dishwasher repair man who never showed up. Chaps my arse. Such shite service these days.

W2D1 Completed

Pretty good workout. Always curious when he programs 2 reps for a set so went through squat pretty quickly. Getting the feeling I need to work on some ankle mobility. Bench went well went up to 82% on the last set just to see how it felt. Did regular dips instead of bench dips, don't like the way my shoulders feel. Finished cardio and out in 1:07.

Dishwasher repairmen are the mountain lions of the appliance repair world. Everyone has claims to seeing one, but no one ever has, if you talk to your local game warden they'll confirm this, they say "People are full of shite, they're just seeing bobcats, there's no big cats(dishwasher repairmen) around here anymore, too many people around here and those cats* are too skittish"....but just like a claimed mountain lion sighting on Facebook, if you post on FB about having an actual in home visit from an actual dishwasher repairman, you're just telling lies to get the likes. They don't come round here no more, too skittish.

Back at it after 5 days in NYC and few days of relaxing.

W2D1 was good. Squats moved easy. Bench was solid also.

Late to the party, but completed W1D1 this afternoon. Took right at 1:25 using 2 min rests and a 10 min warm-up. Squats and DB rows were the best portion of the workout. Skullcrushers were solid but nothing special. The DB lats and pushups were the worst; missed the last couple reps on each. Bench was meh. Completed it, but the 80% sets could've been cleaner.

After dealing with all the high school kids in the gym yesterday afternoon on their phones, I decided to cut my recovery short (~12 hrs) and hit W1D2 this morning. Overall it was ok and took tight at 1:30. Pretty sure I paid for the short recovery on OHP (and maybe deadlifts).

On OHP, I went lighter than expected and it was still a little bit of a struggle. For the deadlifts, I went mixed grip on all sets except the 75% set. I used straps on that one. Even though the 10 rep set was a lighter weight, it was one of the tougher sets. I completed it as 1 set, but had a brief pause in the middle to flip my grip.

Similar to OHP, I went a little lighter than planned on everything else. Felt like the right decision and for the most part I kept decent form. The last set of BB 21s is probably the exception where form began to suffer.

I am so glad I don't go to a big box gym. That used to bother the hell out of me.

W2D2 done.

Deadlifts went smooth, but were heavy. 350 for 4 was hard at the end.

OHP was also a doozy today. I pushed myself and finished with 135 for 10.

Had to speed through the end and coupled the last SS of rows/curls with the cardio to finish up. My shoulders were burning.

I got W2D2 done in about an hour yesterday excluding the cardio and last superset of rows and curls which I skipped.

Is 44 too old to be doing this workout? Just kidding, but damn it’s a lot of work.

I’ve never burned through deadlifts on short rest like that, but it worked out.

W2D3 was a doozy.

Squats took me almost 35 minutes or so and I felt like I was rushing through the breaks at first. 8x2 of 315 took a while.

I subbed BB shrugs for DB bc I didn’t feel like loading up the bar again

W1D3 down

Ran long (1:45) as I got a little distracted talking with some people during a couple rests. I've been sore as hell after missing 2 weeks. Was a little nervous on squats since hamstrings were TIGHT. Overall they went well. The 80% set could've been cleaner and on the very last set I started to get a little pain from the bar placement. Everything else went well. Started getting fatigued on the 20 rep sets of rows. On the hammer curls I bumped up tue weight on the last set. Hindsight, it was a bad idea as form suffered. By the last few reps on rear lats, I was spent. Plan on hitting D4 tomorrow and resting this weekend.

Just finished pool season for the second time. Ran it last June. Been running various PPSA programs for that year with a one month hiatus in Jan due to shingles. I did average 25 lbs more per set on squats and deads but pretty much the same weight as last year on bench unfortunately which is surprising because my tris and shoulders are way stronger than last year. This time around I was pretty much doing the same weight on auxiliary lifts, but extremely focused on form. I definitely felt the soreness this time around focusing on slow and steady vs. just cranking out reps. On to pool season 2.

I'm having issues with getting up out of bed in the early mornings......

I'll hit W2D3 either late tonight or tomorrow morning.

You sound like my wife

I let her have the morning workouts now that I go at lunch and most mornings I hear her annoying ringtone go off and her turn it off again

W2D2 Completed

This hit my back hard a lot of pulling but really liked it. Doing OHP after deads always saps me, but was able to increase the weight. Subbed lat pull down for pull ups. Did some conditioning 400M run, 100KB swings - 16kg, and 400M run took 11:32.

W2D3 Completed
At first glance thought 8 sets of 2 reps wouldn't be that hard but by set 6 my quads were yelling at me. Subbed Meadows rows for 1 arm DB row and was able to breeze through the rest of the workout. Did greyskull killer conditioning 44 and took about 12 minutes to complete.

Tomorrow is the half way point for Pool Season 1 and loving the program. Good mix of heavy lifting and aesthetic work.

W1D4 complete

This week felt tougher than it should have. I usually don't take the full rest written in the plan, but I could tell after the first set or 2 of the workout that I needed to take all 3 minutes as written. That caused the workout to be LONG as it clocked in at 2:09 (I add some additional warm-up that isn't written).

I was a little disappointed in myself today with how hard some of the sets felt. I completed everything as written and (for the most part) form was pretty decent. I'd say the weak spots were the 15 rep sets on bench, last 2 sets of CG pushups, and maybe the Arnold presses (I needed a DB that wasn't available).

I went back to when I completed Pool Season last time (April '23) to compare some of the numbers and look at growth/decline. My TMs are all considerably higher (55# Bench, 95# Squat, and 90# Deadlift) and my weight is 35# lower. Made me feel good to see the huge growth there while dropping considerable bodyweight. It also removed some of the bitter taste of how difficult this week felt.

For the accessories, some of them are the same weight, but several have gone up considerably. I'm taking the old accessory weights with a grain of salt as I wasn't focusing on form as much then as I a now. For now, my focus will be on form and recovery/hydration.

My goal for the end of the year is to have a combined (Bench, Squat, Dead) 1000# 1RM @ 190#. That's 55# higher than my current combined TM and 120# higher than my actual combined 1RM from Dec '23, while being 35# lighter than Dec '23. Lofty, but I think I can do it with focus and consistency.

Go to the gym and forgot headphones and belt because I've been lifting in my garage.

W2D4 done instead of day 3. I'll get the squats in tomorrow.

W2D4 was way easier than last weeks day 4.

Happy Father’s Day weekend boys.
