My kids like to ride occasionally. Not enough that I've bought cages yet, but probably soon. My wife's shoes fit my teenage daughter, but she's probably going to need her own shoes soon if she's going to keep riding. I'll probably just get the cages that clip into the pedals so she and my son can use those when they ride.

Also, took my second Tabata class last night. While the power output isn't as high as a good climb or HIIT class, I feel drained after them. This one was AT's 30 minute class from not too long ago, and it was something like 34 intervals after a 5 minute warmup, so not a lot of recovery time. Always good to do something like that once a week to mix it up and work on form while doing high cadence.

I am kinda jealous that your kids have it, would have been great to have when i wrestled and played football. Using the peloton to cut weight would be great

Yeah, this was the second Tabata I did, both with AT, and the first had the typical 4 minute warmup, 25 minutes riding, 1 min cooldown. I did a 45 minute ride on Thursday, and didn't ride again until Sunday, so I figured I was fresh enough to take on another Tabata. The first one was killer.

As far as the kids, I really want my daughter (and wife since we're talking about it) to get back into it more. She is running track now, and I think the bike would be a great way to build up strength and stamina with low impact. And failure as a Dad here, my almost 9 year old likes to ride it, and I want him to get on it to help with teaching him to ride his real bike. I haven't done the best job at taking him to the park to learn how to ride it.

Does anyone track their progress by week? I am starting to keep track of my rides and comparing my numbers week by week to try and keep track of if I am improving overall per week. Just logged a full week last week.

I am tracking:

1. What type of ride.
2. Instructor.
3. Total time.
4. Total distance.
5. Total output.
6. Total calories.

Output is tough to measure with other people, but, tracking your own is a good baseline for yourself I think.

Main two things I want to compare week by week for overall gains is increase in miles per minute rode and increase in output per minute.

Does anyone do anything like this, or, have any other or better ideas on metrics to track?

i try to retest of FTP every few months.

I also will end up doing the same Emma 90s rock rides, so i will filter the leader board to just show my previous rides. I try to beat them.

I'm almost at the point where I want to take some of my previous rides again to see progress. Want to knock out a few more 45 minute rides so that can be a good baseline for improvement. Then I'm going to retake my top 5 or so output 30 minute rides and see what the change is.

Is the Bike+ worth the extra grand? I feel like the anti-glare and larger screen on the plus would be pretty useful depending on where you put it.

I think the Bike+ screen also rotates so you can do floor exercises and turn screen towards you.

I have regular bike, but, I also bought before the + was even around.

I have had bike in 4 different houses/rooms and have never had an issue with glare. Also have never really had a desire for a larger screen than the one I have.

That being said, if you are financing the bike over a period of time to where the payment is only $8-$10 extra bucks a month then I would probably opt for the +.

Did my first FTP test tonight and scored 238, which I was happy with, but I also think I can improve upon, as I feel as though I started too low.

Will re-test in another 6-8 weeks.

I only have experience with the regular bike, but I find it completely sufficient.

You can buy a $30 swivel to add to the bike so that the screen turns around.

The screen is plenty big.

I have no issue with a glare on my bike and its right next to a large window.

With that said, some people swear by the bike+, so

I was in the same camp but ended up with the regular bike. You can get a kit for the swivel.

twist your heel out, then pull that leg through behind the clipped in leg and twist the other heel out.

you might need to adjust the pedals if they are too tight.

Yeah a quarter turn on the pedals usually helps. I had no issues getting mine in and out but my wife and daughter using the same shoes both had issues at first. A little loosening and they both can now. Also I forget which beginner class I took, but the instructor at the end even talked about that. Said imagine you’re putting out a cigarette and twist your heel away.

Anyone else having issues with an Apple Watch connecting to their bike? I was using a third party app until they did the update that lets the watch connect directly. First few rides were fine, but last night I opened the Peloton app on my watch, and it just kept spinning. Usually you just open the app, then start a workout on the bike and it connects. I had to reboot the watch, and it still took a few minutes to connect. Not a huge deal since I had a stack created and it resolved itself by the time the 5 minute warmup was completed, but still annoying.

Also the Ben Alldis climb ride I did last night was brutal. Resistance got up into the high 50s/low 60s at one point, out of the saddle with a 75 target cadence.

Really enjoying the PZ rides with Matt Wilper. Highly recommend for the newer riders.

I'm doing the Discover Your Power Zones program right now. Today is the last day of week one, which is a 30 minute PZ ride with Matt. Never really rode with him much previously, but I have lately. I like him.

ETA: My mistake, it was an Olivia Amato ride. She spent the entire 30 minutes trying to keep her tits from popping out of the little orange top she was wearing. Not a bad ride, all things considered.

Getting back into the strength classes. Just took a 10 minute intermediate lower body class and my legs are letting me know about it now. Thought I was pretty strong since I've been doing a ton of climb rides, but those squats and lunges are a different animal.

How often are you all tightening the clips on your shoes? Have about 20 rides on mine and last night they felt super loose. The screw in the bottom was so loose I could tighten with my hand.
