In the ground for me, but all options can be effective. Just keep adding dirt and manage your water. Your goal is not to rot the seed potato or you lose the plant.

What are some good online sources for native wildflowers?

My wife and I found out on Mardi Gras that she had a miscarriage. Obviously it has been a rough week since then. She has mentioned the idea of planting something or doing something else as a kind of reminder for the baby.

I have an old raised garden bed that I'm not doing much with now and thought a wild flower garden might be a good idea. I know a couple of websites have been posted here in the past but couldn't remember the names.

TIA

I'm sorry to hear that. That's rough! My wife and I went through that as well so I understand the heartbreak.

Raised beds are my only option in rocky NW Arkansas.

My wife planted onion bunches in bags a few days ago. Being it is still cold up here I have the bags on a wagon. I take the wagon out into the sun when it gets warm enough. They are under a plant light on cold cloudy days.

She will be planting her pepper and tomato seeds this week and they will be under a plant light.

If you happen to live around Acadiana, Urban Naturalist and Acadiana Native Plant Project both sell 4” plants if you want plants instead of seeds. If I were planting in a smaller bed I’d go with plants because you can arrange them in an aesthetic format and you don’t have to deal with seed stratification which some natives require. If you want specific seeds Prairie Moon is reputable although not local-ecotype.

Yeah, it has been a rough week and Mardi Gras will probably always be a reminder for us unfortunately. Time should help things get better though. It has also given me a new appreciation of the time that I have with our other healthy children.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe consider daffodil bulbs. They’ll bloom every year around this time if you leave them in place.

Speaking of, was out in the piney woods of Winn Parish and passed by Adams Memorial Daffodil Field. Had no idea that was even a thing. It's beautiful right now.

Wasn't going to plant anything yet, but circumstances made Sunday the day to do it. Lowe's plants should have all been thrown out. Went to Home Depot and got some peppers(out of green bells) tomatoes and a lemon tree to try to grow one in a pot.

You early guys irritate me...I just transplanted peppers and tomatoes. Won't get them in the garden until late March if weather cooperates.

It helps a little. I'm going to be a week late on potatoes because of some rain and a short-notice work trip. Off to an expected start lol

My back yard tomatoes and beans went in 3 weeks ago, but I'm up against the clock with too much canopy once my sycamore and pecan leaf out. Took the risk and it turned out ok with a record warm February.

The off-site garden will be small this year. Just a few tomatoes seeded and also just seeded a couple watermelons. With the toddler I can only do long season one time harvest crops these days. And I'll do a whole row of sunflowers just to have something fun in the ground.

I planted two weeks ago in NW Florida. My stuff is looking great so far. Pole beans are ready to start climbing. Still put cloches on cucumbers and cantaloupe at night because I started them later than peppers and tomatoes.

Listening to Farmer's Almanac instead of weathermen, It has been downright hot in the afternoons here.

Good luck to everyone's gardens!
