Had a (not so fun or quick) yard upgrade.

We've been in our 80 year old house for about 15 years. We did an complete remodel on the exterior and interior about 4 years ago. Went great other than over budget and 5 months overdue.
The only thing we really hated about our house after that was our side yard. We have an L shaped back yard on a corner lot. my "back: yard is great with a huge deck facing west, but the side yard is on the north and gets no sun. I've seeded, overseeded, and sodded and nothing ever took. a 70x15 foot run of dirt and weeds.
my next door neighbor and i share a chain link fence with little slats. hideous. she has about 20 trees planted against the fence and it pushed 4 feet into my yard. she's 80 and said i could do whatever i wanted, but she's moving in 5 years and isn't going to pay to clear trees or a new fence. all i do there is mow weeds, pick up dog poop, and rake her tree's leaves. she did give me permission to do whatever i want to her trees though.
i tried to find a picture, but realized that it's so hideous we never took any pictures. this is the only think because we had a robin back there one day.
first couple of months of the project was cutting back her limbs that grew through the fence, using a comealong in her yard to pull back the fence. then pulling more. and killing and tilling my yard.
tilled everything and then tried my best to send drainage away from the house. We also decided to mulch up the side that ran all the way on the fence even where we didn't lay rock. dogs like to run up and down there a bit so we wanted something soft for that as well as something we could plant vines for the trellises.
final product was pretty close to what we had envisioned. still need some leveling and plants
still a lot of work to do on my existing wood fence and yard that we destroyed in the process of doing all this. and about 1/10th of our 1x2s on the trellises bowed and we're going to have to fix those.

Are you going to put some stones to step on through that rock?
That is a cardinal.
That is a cardinal.

Yes. In the next couple of weeks.
It is. Don’t know why I said Robin.

BIG improvement. Are you going to string lights along the new fence?

Yes. We'll run them down the house then across to the trellises. We may do a pergola over the yard to the trellis that across from the door for shade.
we'll probably do some carolina jasmine up the trellis and see if we can get it across the pergola like this.
our local nursery had it planted over theirs and it created a complete shade for part of their layout.

Looks great man. That's a lot of work.
Seconded @ the stones. Otherwise, enjoy the ER after you and wifey have been drinking a few

today is the first day in 2 weeks (minus 4 days i was traveling for work,) that i haven't spent any time fixing anything out there and/or spending money on this project. i asked to let me have just today to not work on anything.
i was just told that she wants stepping stones tomorrow morning before work. her parents are coming this week and while they're in good shape, they are 70.
