Just don’t cheap out with LVP.

Anyone who has lived with real wood floors will be able to tell the difference in a single glance, but LVP is certainly more durable and essentially water proof.

Lol. Obviously you’ve never been to a south Louisiana dance hall.

This. I STRONGLY recommend their longboard and legend lines.

Very high quality, very realistic prints, colors, and texture.

We did it 3 years ago in the living and all the bedrooms with zero complaints.
Get the thickest wear layer you can afford. We have 2 dogs, a 5 pound ankle biter with razors for claws and a 90 pound catahoula. No noticeable wear anywhere.

I was a big fan of our flooring when we moved in. New construction, but after 7 months I’m seeing gaps everywhere.

Looking to see if the manufacturer is gonna do anything about it or just blame it on the installers or us not maintaining the humidity in the home (which we do). No water/moisture anywhere either. Seems to be a bit more than just the weather changing.

What is your flooring?

Wouldn't think LVP would be expanding/shrinking much.

Any of you have someone provide materials and labor? What was your total cost per sq ft? I recently got a quote that came in at over $12/sq ft for everything. The flooring itself (Lawson Legends) runs b/t $3.50 and $4.50 per sq ft based on what I could find on different sites. The installation cost seems outrageous to me.

This includes demo of existing floating floor, carpet, some tile, and all new quarter round, painted and installed.

I had a quote for demo and install and labor was around $7 in the Houma Thibodaux area. That didn’t include demo of tile though.

We just had Home Depot install approx. 1,300 sq. ft of LVP in our house that came out to about $6.30/sq.ft.

Flooring seems OK for now, but will see how it holds up over the next few months/years.

Flooring and quarter round was approx. $4,500.

Installation (including removal of old floating engineered hardwood) was approx. $3,700.

Going through Home Depot is kind of a crapshoot, though, as you don't really know who they will send out to perform the install, until it's time to install. For us, it was contracted out through USIG in New Orleans.

we used acme brick in Laffayette for ours. We really like it. Not sure on name brand but very realistic in that you can feel the knots etc. I do know i went with the more expensive of the ones we were looking at because it was more realistic and had a much thicker wear layer

MSI - Prescott

Thickness - 6.5 mm
Wear Layer - 20 mil

Installer did not like putting it down at all and said the click lock system was not as easily installed as other brands. Other reviews I've seen on internet had similar issues, which is why I'm kind of concerned with how it will hold up.

Thanks for the costs responses. I pointed out they mistakenly had glued down wood as the type of floor they were demoing instead of a floating floor, so once that was corrected it came down to about $9.50/sq ft for everything. I'll probably get one or two other quotes to compare.

Fixing our home due to Ida as well.

We are going with Frimfit XXL by bpi Prestige.
It's a larger plank (9" x 60")and commercial rated with limited lifetime warranty for residential use. Has beveled edges

Its SPC (stone plastic composite) vs LVT.

Bumping this to see how you like it. Recommended by a flooring installer we had look at the house.

About to start our Ida rebuild and may as well be building a new house with all the decisions to be made. Was going to go with Lifeproof from HD just to buy and be done with it but realizing that while it benefits from good availability, the price really isn’t that great relative to other brands recommended. Problem is there are so many out there and difficult to see a whole plank in person to know how it will actually look when complete

We really like it so far. While it's only been a few months since the install, every time I look at it I feel we made the right choice.
Every time we have had flooring done before I always felt like maybe we could have chosen better.

Here is our finished living room.
The color is Wheatland.

I find selecting finishes on anything home related is near impossible when you can't see the finished product before hand. I thought I would hate this cobalt blue sofa my wife picked out while I liked these La-Z-Boys in the store. After they made it in the house it turned out to be the exact opposite.

Wow thanks for the quick reply!

That’s what I am trying to keep reminding myself of. Once it’s all in place/installed/painted it will all look fine, need to not overthink it. Just a lot of decisions to make that I didn’t really want to but oh well.

Eta where did you order the floor from?

We got the flooring from a local flooring contractor in my area, Dishman Flooring and Interiors. They had it in stock at the time.

This LVT is being installed in my house as I type this, it’s replacing 29 year old engineered hardwood and ceramic tile. My interior designer talked me into it, I had my doubts, but I’m liking what is see so far. $3.50 sq ft if I recall correctly.
