I’m from Tx. Albeit Deep East, and most kids in my home town would value any SEC offer over UT. The UT love doesn’t start until Dallas area and West… and I thought it’s fading lol

And NIL strikes again. Texas pays all offensive linemen $50,000 per year
Posted on 12/12/21 at 2:36 pm to kwtiger70
NIL will kill college football.

And for all you idiots who say Texas can't afford to pay OL $50,000@ year, their alumni can afford to pay half a million to each & every Olman if they thought they could get away w/it. Texas could get more from their alumni than our alumni make.

It has nothing to do with them being capable of paying players that much money, it's more about, do the wealthy alumni WANT to pay some bench warmer OLs $50k per year?
They're still going to want a return.

For the 10,001st time...no it will not!

Oh and I've grown to hate NIL already
Well it was to keep other people from. Among money on the kids. Now it’s just free agency and they are flat out paying the kids. It’s no longer college ball. It’s NFL minor leagues

Was MiNFL long before NIL

make 50k a year by going to Texas.
I would gladly contribute to a fund that would bribe OL to LSU if that’s what helps.

Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder saw this coming after the "Charity for Pancakes" or whatever that phony charity is was formed last week.
It isn't about the school or pride anymore. College sports is now a semiprofessional league. Likely was before NIL but it is definitely for sure a thing now.
NCAA has no clout anymore. Useless association that will just make money for nothing.

NIL will spiral out of control faster than any of us thought
It will break some schools soon. They will simply throw in the towel because this is no longer even remotely Amateur Athletics and they will unable to keep up and competitive.
To be honest when all a team does is buy players then it has lost its Soul and has become just an NFL farm system. Some schools may become attached to certain NFL Teams for NFL money. Who knows where this is going to go but it isn’t good.

The return is being able to rub a Natty in the faces of their billionaire buddies who also gave an obscene amount of money to their schools

Look at all the money boosters light on fire annually on coaches, facilities, etc. People aren't really blinking an eye anymore at the type of deal Brian Kelly just landed. What's another $500k-$1M a year to improve your trenches and take a shortcut to improving a notorious weakness in your program? Some won't pan out but you are increasing the odds some will, and you will have the best OL in the country.
I'm honestly surprised at how people are whistling past the graveyard on stuff like this, again.

I see you didn’t have a rebuttal why a person that is on legal age to join the military, own a firearm or sign themselves into debt for college shouldn’t be paid for something that generates a billion dollars.
