That pretty much tells me what I assumed is correct. Jones didn't attend camp, thus missing his opportunity to show the coaches what he can do.
The staff, in turn, based on what they had seen of him didn't think he was worth the effort it was going to take and focused on better players.
Think of a marginally attractive girl who is high maintenance. Jones may end up being very good, but the reasons LSU didn't chase as hard as you or Jones wanted are due to Jones. And, I think it's reasonable given the schools that are chasing him.

I don't know what to think about Blackmon, like this board I still don't know much about him.
Doesn't mean everyone else compared to him is a great talent.

the next 3 4 years tiger fans are gonna see a lot of him and the santimore????? kid from Destrehan.
THIS. Unfortunately, their names will be resurfacing on here for years. They are very good players at key positions and they will be making a difference for our SEC rivals.

4 Star Rivals 250 isn't good anymore?

The truth is that this kid lives in Arkansas (albeit close to the state line), and decided that a family reunion was more important than going to camp at LSU. Let's not pretend that this kid is a can't miss stud. He's not. It's pretty damn reasonable that they decided to focus their time and effor on other DT prospects. Guys like you who are bitching about this are simply using 20/20 hindsight.
Wow....your such an insider you think the kid lives in Arkansas. The kid DOES NOT live in Arkansas. He lives in Louisiana. He goes to a Arkansas school. In fact I would say half the people there are Arkansas fans, the other half LSU.
Here is another little bit of info. The family reunion was one of those nationwide deals where they do it every 4 years or so. His parents had been making plans for it for a long time. His parents told him he was going and that was it. I know when I was 17 years old what my mom and dad said was the law. If you think his priorities were wrong for doing what his parents say, then I would guess that your the type that does the opposite of what your parents said. Or better yet do the opposite of what your coach says and wind up getting kicked out of school. Byran has the type of character that will make him a winner wherever he winds up. Maybe we need to recruit more kids with the character of the QB at Jacksonville state you think?

I stand corrected. However, my point still stands that he's basically in Arkansas and chose not to go to the camp.

If what you say is true, then his parents cost him a chance to play football at LSU. When I was 17, I couldn't imagine my parents making me go to a family function over something that was important enough to have a significant impact on my future.
I'm sure he's a good kid. But, either he didn't really want to go to LSU, or he made a HORRIBLE decision and gave his opportunity to other players.

Ok, so scratch the camp that conflicted with the reunion. Why didn't he come to the other one?

He's going to Auburn anyway. What does it matter?

Well I dont figure they have their family revolve around a certain school. If that school doesnt have interest in the kid cause he is going to a family function then oh well. That just shows how the recruiting is done at LSU now I guess. I for one dont think that is a good thing. Plus I'm sure his parents figure a college education from Auburn, Arkansas or La Tech that is free is still a good thing.

Will say this one more time. It wasnt his decision to make. His decision will be what school he signs with. He was 17 at the time and not even a Sr yet. He has parents that run his house the way "they" see fit. His decision was to mind his parents. I guess we should get more of the "Pac Man Jones" types that do what they want to, and live by the code of the streets? He has parents. They make the rules. Mine did the same thing. He turns 18 and is living on his own then I guess he can make "HORRIBLE" decisions for himself.
