Honestly the kid shouldn’t sign a contract he isn’t willing to honor. Would be great to have him but if these kids aren’t held accountable we will eventually get burned too.

How is it illegal? What laws were broken.

Antitrust. Any contract that attempts to prevent a player transferring is actually illegal and unenforceable per congress, regardless of the details.

What are you talking about here?

Fifita re-upped with Arizona 5 days ago. His name is not in the portal. He used to play for UW’s HC & reports confirm they are in contact with his agent as he is their target to replace Williams.

Delly has a new job & he’s doing it. Nothing personal, but also frick em.

I think that’s between the kid, Washington, the conference, and the ncaa. If a star qb’s agent says he’s available, then you take him. If it falls through, you have a back up plan, which Lane always seems like he does.

Is it dumb to draw parallels to this to non-competes which are largely unenforceable?

Non-competes are 100 percent enforceable if done correctly.

Not sure where you are getting that information.

Hard for them to cry foul when they are pushing for another QB to do the same exact thing.

I understand the Lane/LSU is the story here, but same as the “tampering” accusations, the other universities are the ones benefiting from the media’s focus on Lane Kiffin.

UW officials suspect that Williams has already held conversations with other programs and the school plans to submit any tampering evidence to the league and NCAA.

LSU is believed to be the school most interested in Williams.
slightly troubling. Lane in trouble 1 month in?

Edit: Didn't mean this how it came across. Just meant that it would be a real headache to be accused of tampering in the first month of Lane's tenure, not that anything would actually come of the accusations, since we're only doing the same thing everyone else is doing.

WHat's troubling is you thinking we did something wrong here.

But sure, some smart lawyers got paid a lot to put that unenforceable clause in writing.

I don't why these things dont have a liquidated damages clause that kick in if you leave to certain dates.

If you really want to see shite get sideways, if he goes Oregon the Big 10 will lose its mind.

pretty sure that will not hold up in court. You cannot prevent movement of a player within the NCAA permitted guidelines.

I said the same thing. The more they dig in their heels, the more they’re pushing him out the door.

University of Washington is my west coast Ole Miss --- don't particularly care what is on their mind. They don't "own" him anymore than LSU owns players that depart before their eligibility is exhausted

The Universities are likewise culpable in these matter - is not like they aren't getting away like bandits

They would have to. NIL deals and rev share cannot be tied to a player playing a sport. There’s no pay for play.

Yes, you have to be in the transfer portal to play football for another school. His contract forbids him to enter the portal. Meaning the ncaa won’t allow him to play football for another school.
