I agree. this is what i was doing.

but please don't talk to him (or his mom) about LSU

i am a close friends of the families. They knwo of LSU and they also know that I am a fan and that I dont represent LSU. If he decides not to come becuase a guy that grew up around the corner is talking about LSU he was never going to come here any ways. Kids have dreams to play at certain schools anyways no matter what I or you say.

definitely don't go making up nicknames for him that offend people.

STFU. i can call him what I want to call him. He is a persoanl friend of mines. You guys make up names for people all the time even insulting one. and bash kids for not choosing LSU. So if I made up a nickname get over it and get over yourself. You dont have to call him that if you dont want to.

Not taking anything away from this kid....appears to be a good athlete. But you have to take into account that he probably has been held back at some point and had another year to develop and also the quality of middle school football in the Shreveport area outside of Evangel, Calvary and a couple of public schools is poor. Most of the time you are playing against teams with decent athletes that are very poorly coached thus resulting in wide open plays as seen in this video.....wish the kid the best and hope all his athletic dreams and goals come true but i generally dont put too much stock in middle school highlights from this area for this reason.

He has definitely matured earlier than the others on the videos. It may be natural or he may have been held back, etc but he is a man amongst boys in that vid.

It seriously looks like he is playing against bobble head toys in some of them.

I don't know if it's too vague or over generalized. but it's completely inaccurate.

I wish I was. Jordan is a great kid. he is a close family friend.

His older brother plays CB for Vandy right now. I talked about him when he was being recruited.

yes there has been. He maybe one of them but the fact is he is playing good ball adn shows talent. just supoort him instead of finding reasons to doubt. no one is hailing him a 5 star national recruit.

But he will definitely play college football.

I have been watching high school football for over 40 years. I have seen many middle school players and many middle school teams who didn't pan out in high school. I have heard many fans proclaim undefeated middle schools teams as sure playoff teams once they reach high school, only to see that not unfold. The physical and emotional maturity of a middle school kid is way different than a high school kid. I would prefer to say that middle school is just what it is - middle school talent. Likewise, I have seen many high school football players who were just that - good high school football players. Success at one level certainly doesn't qurantee success at the next level. I support a 5A high school team. In fact, at the time that school played in Dist. 1-5A which included W. Monroe, Ouachita, Ruston, Byrd and the others. Two years ago I had the pleasure of watching one of the better high school DE I have ever seen. He was voted Defensive MVP of the district. He wasn't even offered a college scholarship. As unstoppable as he was in high school he had one problem - he stood only 5' 11" tall. So, middle school success is not necessarily a predictor of high school success, high school success is not necessarily a predcitor of college success and there are many good college players (who were even Heisman Trophy winners) who didn't pan out in the pros.

So, yes, this young man is a "man among boys in the middle school ranks". Many things can happen over the next years to determine how well he progresses, not the least of which is his work ethic and his avoidance of injury. Rest assured, those around him will catch up with him in speed and size. A big question is will he continue to progress in speed and size?

I do think it is totatally rediculous to make a statement that he will definitely play college football. Enjoy him one year at a time and don't brand him a "can't miss" college prospect just yet.

All I know is this. I was a "daddy volunteer coach" at Caddo Middle Magnet a few years back. I our biggest win that year was over Calvary. Other than Benton and Calvary I would say that the competition we faced was average at best.

In fact, I have long thought that the problem with Shreveport high school football is the lack of feeder middle school (kids scatter to any number of schools after middle school), plus the fact that there is little to no communication between high school coaches and middle school coaches. The big reason for that is the first reason. No middle school feeds directly to a high school and a high school coach can't go and entice a middle school kid to come to their high school - that is known as recruiting.

The report is true. Other than CMM, Calvary, and Evangel, the level of middle school talent is not there. I work with a coach of the 7th grade team. I met Jordan at his house for the LSU-Auburn game. Very nice young man, very talented football player. Yes, he does have an older brother who plays at Vandy, and that was by CHOICE. Jordan currently has a 4.0 gpa and from what he told me, he would like to follow in his brother's footsteps at Vandy as well. He told me he wanted to go to Vandy for three reasons: 1. Follow in his brother's footsteps. 2. Vanderbilt is an excellent academic university. 3. He expressed interest in getting away from Shreveport, and LA, and going somewhere away.

Looking at the other vids that are with this one on youtube the qb's for that team is on there. Heldback??? It says that he is a 6th grader playing up on the 7th grade team, blows that theory out of the water...

Wasn't that the year WM didn't send a representative thus didn't have anyone named? Mingo was by far the best player in the district that year.

***Does not mean that he is not a 13 year old sixth grader.....Ever worked or coached in the public school system in Shreveport?....That is what i thought

I am not saying that he is or was held back...just stated the obvious that most kids at schools like this are held back and held back early

If Jordan is a true 4.0 and want sto go to Vandy and do well, he will NOT attend Evangel, either.
If the 4.0 is AT Evangel, then a whole different view has to be taken of his academic abilities. I'm sure some bright kids have gone thru Evangel, and some have gotten into good schools.
Evangel, however, simply cannot be considered a serious college prep high school, even compared to public schools in the area. And there are persistent faculty- borne tales of academic fraud there.

lots of kids stay back in the 5th grade now instead of the 8th grade. Its a new LHSAA rule that went in a few years ago. If you are going to stay back a grade, it needs to be done prior to the 5th grade.

Not yet! Evangel likes to hold them back after the 8th grade for some sort of BS "personal growth and mental development" year explained away as preparing them for advanced classes.

Shows was there and that's why West Monroe has 7 players made first team All-D on the offense and 4 on the defense.

IMO Mingo was still raw as a football player his senior year in high school. That is to say he would only get better in college and that has proven to be the case. It is also my opinion that Dickson, who did make MVP, reached his highest potential in high school. And that was my point in the first place.

I'm looking at the year-end stats for DE Dickson from Byrd, who was selected MVP. Tied for team lead in tackles with 75 (tied with a D-1 signee Jonathan Stewart who played LB). Led the team in tackles for loss with 23 and had 7 sacks, 1 pass int and 4 fumble recoveries.

I would submit that District 1-5A was loaded with defensive talent that year - other than Mingo, Dickson and Stewart Jon'Al White and Jovantay Crowe from Ruston were quite studly, and Cameron Blakes from Ouachita will enjoy four years as a starter at ULM, just to name a few. I don't know if any one player was "by far" better than the other. All I know is who the coaches selected as MVP and the difficult time that every left tackle Byrd faced had against Dickson.
