MLB does have a salary cap, dumbass. And the luxury tax kicks in once exceeded.

NIL requirements would prevent such coordination.

Jeez. We have some stupid arse fans.

Said it from day 1 of NIL, it should be a stipend.
Figure out reasonable parameters and uniformity across CFB.
GONE are the days of recruits and parents talking about PT, coaches, facilities and YES classes. Now it is all about 'how much $$$ can you scratch together?' This school offered me this....

Sad.

The enforceable route is a federal NIL law that makes pooling money through shell companies and non-profits that have no purpose besides dispersing NIL money illegal.

But Moscona was on his show saying Kiffin was whining and saying there's always been the haves and have nots and he knows Kiffin will never compete for a championship there. He needs to wake up and realize that without a cap or luxury tax LSU won't either because we don't have that kind of money to compete with Texas schools like that. Talking out of both sides of his mouth on this and doesn't realize how it could affect LSU.

Schools have been trying to figure out a way around Title 9 to do this without breaking federal law and getting sued and it never happened. There’s just no way to do that when you have to also do the same for all non-revenue sports.

Colleges would have to come together and make the rules. If you break the rules then you are free to go play in another league. Free market still applies.

Sounds like you’d be violating some anti trust laws there…

Regardless you’ll never get any to come to any kind of agreement. The top dogs obviously are fine with this set up, the have nots will obviously want it gone or heavily limited, which the top won’t agree to.

This is college football now, it’ll never go back remotely to the way things were. It’ll eventually die as the have nots lose interest in the sport

Jesus Christ! How about y’all shut the frick up and stop whining about it. Bunch of fricking snowflakes melting cause college kids legally getting that money now.

At some point every jackass on this site will have made one of these threads whining about this.

This goes directly against the Supreme Court decision that opened up NIL in the first place.

Neither the NCAA nor its member schools are permitted to restrict players' earnings based on their own name, image, and likeness.

This isn't even an open question.

How do you cap it, the schools aren't paying the money. I don't know if the NIL deals even have to be reported to the NCAA.

How do they keep NFL teams from circumventing it?

So only allowing players to be paid a certain amount will "fix" this? I guess no one cheated back when players weren't allowed to be paid...

This is the system. Either find a way to make the best deal or be smarter than the competition. I like it.

If the Aggies high dollar players start beating Lil Nicky every year, he will whine enough to his buddy Emmert to get the rules changed.

These collectives are literally paying a salary per player. It’s pretty fricking sad the NFL has more regulations in place and a more level playing field than college football

It’s not the same thing. You wouldn’t be restricting the amount that players can make. You would be restricting the amount of total reported NIL money on a school’s roster at a given time. The restriction would be on the team, because the player would be free to go elsewhere to pursue higher amounts. Since NIL is specifically not supposed to be pay for play through the universities, the double-edged sword can cut both ways.

There may be other legal issues with this argument, but it wouldn’t necessarily violate any anti-trust regulations.

Not sure this is apples to apples. While I agree, the NIL deal is more akin to an endorsement deal.
I hate LeBron but he's an easy example:

Think what Nike pays LeBron as NIL, Not what Lakers pay LeBron. Thus it falls outside of a collective bargaining agreement and outside Salary cap.

But again, there has to be a limit in order to foster competition. I.. Kids get paid but still end up at a school they like as opposed to highest bidder.

Kids loving or choosing the school based on things other than money is why I liked college football more than Pro's.

Yes you are. An NIL salary cap is a restriction on earnings.

It is clear that you haven't read the case and don't know what you're talking about.

Have you been asleep? He’s been talking about it and how regulations need to be put in place. He isn’t going to let two of his former underlings get a leg up on him without a fight.

Kirby Smart and Kiffin have also been outspoken in favor of regulations. The Texas schools will be outnumbered on this VERY quickly the way things are going.
