a 5 star in the hands of Brian kelly is about equal to a 3 star in lanes hands IMO.
maybe... we about to find out though, i suppose

When is that last time our coaches called a play that led to broken coverage?
Lane does that on the regular.
Lane does that on the regular.

If he's good enough for Mich, he's good enough for me

Clark is legit. Good size, huge arm, can run, seems super athletic. I agree on rolling with him at the 1.
Can’t be worse than what we lived through last year

exactly... strictly as a backup, just like Michigan is apparently proposing....

do we REALLY needs to still be taking WRs right now? 7 WRs, when you haven't even got a QB to throw to them at the moment, seems like a bit of overkill, IMO...
With the new roster rules, why not? I highly doubt the guys from McNeese and West FL are getting a dime of rev share money. They are basically walk-ons with a little NIL sponsor deal money.
Leavitt is likely not worth what he’s asking due to the health concerns and how that could limit us elsewhere. The big problem is that many of other viable options were taken off the table with their teams paying to retain them, such as Bailey and Sellers.
I wish Lane had gone ahead and made an offer to Simmons as insurance since he knows that offense inside and out. There are just very few mid-market options in this portal.

Most top P4 programs have had backup QBs who were 3 or 4 stars in the past. Either they were waiting their turn or just didn’t work out. These programs are basically rating Clark on that level here, even though he obviously didn’t have that rating coming out of HS.
Backup or not, most programs know they will have to play their backup in a conference game at some point, even if just for a few snaps. Clark obviously doesn’t suck based on the P4 programs signing up for that.

personally, at least to me, portal rankings hold a little more weight than HS ratings do, b/c we have some sort of track record of the player vs. college competition, unlike HS players... as much as i dislike the free for all that the portal has become, i actually like more players on our roster from the portal vs. marginal HS guys clogging up the roster...
that being said, i don't fully agree with your statement, though it's sorta semantics, as far as your take and mine... if that works for you, cool, but i just value the portal differently, i suppose, thus the incongruence between us...

that's COMPLETELY different than what some are supposing, which is to just roll with him at QB1 from the jump, now isn't it?
it was THAT take that i objected to, originally... and yes, i know it wasn't you that said it...

nor is anyone, including me, saying that... i actually want us to get him... just not as QB1

it's just amazing to me that the emergence of Chambliss has seemingly made everyone think that Kiffin has routinely taken chicken shite and made chicken salad... he is very much the oddity from Kiffin's career... almost every single QB Kiffin has had to work with was very highly recruited guys... he didn't "make" them...
Why so negative brah? He’s been good with identifying suitable guys. Dart, Chambliss were solid finds.

No, but Michigan is our challenge right now!
Posted on 1/10/26 at 7:45 pm to brettamedee
Yeah I don't get the Michigan thing unless it was like his favorite team growing up or something like that

Yeah that’s where I am. He’s gonna be underwood’s back up or have a chance to compete for qb1 here pending any moves Kiffin makes tomorrow
