I use Google Maps at all times even when going home from work. It gives me traffic data, best routes, cop locations plus I get to thinking and sometimes forget my turn so it helps there too

In DFW if you don't map where you are going even if it's 5 miles away you're doing it wrong.
5 miles could take 30 minutes or 5 depending on which way you go
