He's talking about the football team, what are you talking about?

where was OU with either of these guys?

OU doesn't do much in Houston, don't know if they just haven't had much success or don't recruit the area as hard.

guys that don't have interest in UT or that UT isn't targeting, especially from SE TX, should be our's

Thank god the Aggies hired Sherman and not Tubs.

well, it hasn't really been the scenario at WR until now... I'm sure some of his quotes are some what of a lobbying for RR

You guys are losing it. Until Pratt enrolls somewhere else, he is ours - same for Janzen. Just stop the rumor mill already with all the gloom and doom. Jeesh...

I know. I have seen nothing outside of A&M area say we lost Pratt. We dominate recruiting early and get what we need done before late recruiting kicks in now, we shoot the moon to pick up some long shot players that don't commit and people are ready to jump off the bridge.

Les smartly said what he had to say while RR was in Tuscaloserville.

did they not hire the guy from Houston because of arrogance, as in, "why would we ever hire a coach from a non-BCS school in texas? we're A&M!"

THAT could have hurt us

that's what i figured. they seem more like central/north texas

I'm not sure if it was that or they wanted an "A&M" guy that understood Aggie culture or what ever. But yes, Art Briles would have been a great hire for them and hurt us in SE Texas recruiting. I don't think he'll be at Baylor too long.

Until someone is willing to overpay for his services, he'll be at Baylor for a while.

Briles did more with less... but I wouldn't say he's necessarily a top-tier recruiter.

Granted Tuberville wasn't exactly a world-beating recruiter (at least grading him using the services).

Well, I would definitely say at the QB position. They actually did a hell of a job recruiting O-linemen. They certainly came up short at QB and WR. Still with Lester, Tate, and Fannin, and a damn good line, they should have been a slightly better than average team with a power running game and solid D.

well the OL transition was also bad...they recruited big run blockers and had run blocking coaches and they wanted to run zone blocking shite? eeeesh. bad plan

in today's CFB, you need to do more on offense than run the ball and pray behind your defense

True... although I would argue that Auburn is a bowl eligible team in 2008 with that gameplan.

maybe, he knows what he could do at a top program with contacts at Houston HS. I find it interesting that the only Texas schools that recruited Jaquizz Rogers were UH and Baylor.

But IMO Tubs at A&M could be scary enough, the expectations wouldn't be as high and he'd have a better base to recruit from.

i'm not trying to flame, but what we projected at our optimistic peak and what has happened are vastly apart

The fact is, even at our "optimistic" peak... most everyone who actually keeps up with recruiting knew it was a shot in the dark to land all of those guys.

Our class is still approaching the Rivals record for best class ever...

Do yall think this class will be better than Florida's 06 class with Tebow, Harvin, Spikes, etc?

I'm pretty sure Miles' quote is based on end results.

He's stating that it could be one of the best ever "Potentially". He even goes on to say that these kids may play for multiple National Championships.

The point is that it's idiotic to compare it to any other class in history at this point since this class hasn't accomplished anything yet. And, it's even more idiotic to compare it to another class in the last year or two which itself isn't finished putting its skins on the wall.

FWIW, I don't think Miles believes that this class is going to play for "several" NCs. I think he is just trying to build up some excitement with the intent to get the remaining kids considering LSU to be a part of it.
