If tweet fails to load, click here. The way this memo is worded, looks like any NIL deals secured by the school count towards revenue sharing pool, which would make sense why Kiffin is hesitant to sign a QB for huge money.
If I am interpreting this correctly, Tech just blew 1/4 of their pool on one player.

This technicality will be the downfall for ole miss trying to spend what they don't have.
Love it.

I think it’s only if that NIL deal didn’t exist at the time the player signed. So future NIL deals can’t offset the pool. Need to have those NIL deals already lined up right now sounds like.

The boosters paying players out of pocket or on side if you will is no different than what Cam Newton got. Pretty sure that this part of process just started happening because nobody had rules. But I saw a year ago where it was stated that flat out paying players from booster is illegal. Maybe this is what makes them atleast try and look like it's Name Image and Likeness.

Yeah he clarified a little bit. So sounds like they should sign NIL deals before “picking” a school, otherwise any money promised to them comes out of that school’s revenue. I have a feeling quite a few of these deals signed already have destroyed a school’s share. It will also take time to secure NIL money and deals, which will hold up alot of signings. The clearinghouse will likely deny alot of the deals signed if their huge NIL deals like what Sorsby got. NIL also isn’t guaranteed money

Programs like Texas Tech and Ole Miss will ignore this and dare the ncaa to do anything about it.

I’d assume whatever deal a school made with a player to this point can be changed if the player agrees. That player would then need to have faith the school will uphold their end though (and all done quietly).
For instance school says we’ll pay 100K this year and provide 400K in future NIL deals. The school can’t really guarantee that nor are they allowed to technically even if they know they have companies lined up that will provide whatever they ask.

This is why Lane left ole miss
When everything trends back to equality with revenue share rules… you’re gonna want to be at a blue blood.

Without the teeth or willingness to enforce this, it doesn’t matter.
Schools are going to test the limit and when the CSC realizes it can’t enforce anything, then the fed government will have to step in and clean this shite up. It’s just a matter of time.

Wait, is the NCAA trying to get involved in the NCAA again?

Explain this to me like I’m 5. I could be completely wrong here…
So is this saying Rev Share + extra from NIL Collectives are all capped at 20.5M?
That doesn’t include extra actual NIL from Gordon, Canes, Nike, etc?
Can Campbell (at Texas Tech) just sign Sorsby to a huge NIL deal with Double Eagle?

It remains to be seen if the Commission will have any teeth.

That's the interpretation

Yes. But those NIL deals are still subject to the Clearinghouse.

No, you just can't pay them out of Rev Share upfront and reduce the Rev Share amount later on if a 3rd Party deal comes along.
So you can have say 13.5 million in Rev Share and another 25 million in 3rd Party deals. If you're smart, you sign your big fish out of Rev Share, and you offer fair market value to everyone else via the 3rd Party NIL deals.

Correct

It does if the school secures the NIL deal. These deals would have to be secured by the student/agent apart from the school. These deals will also be subject to review by the clearinghouse who is supposed to reject any deals that are deemed above market value, which IMO deals that pay guys more than 1st round draft picks should be deemed that way and rejected (Sorsby deal)

That memo doesn't say that.

So is this the college version of a salary cap?

There’s no entity that can enforce this.
