Too much Panic? Or not enough?

I understand both sides of this argument and think the middle is where I’m at. I’m concerned, but only because of the circumstances.
To me, this isn’t like it was when LSU last changed coaches and there were something between 30 and 40 players left. Because the portal has changed so much since then, from amounts being spent, to the number of teams spending exorbitant sums, to one portal window, information available to players on these and overblown expectations and self valuations by them, etc.
If there’s significant movement into the portal from the teams still in the playoffs, then waiting might be an acceptable strategy for some positions. The quality of players who enter may be better. That would carry risk, but with the one portal window, it’s all a big risk, as is high school recruiting. It was an arguably a bigger risk to wait when there was 2 windows. It’s just a different kind of risk.
I’ve been most shocked by the numbers floated regarding NIL deals this cycle. There doesn’t seem to be realistic expectations or ceilings for some of these players. And everyone knows that LSU has NO QB’s, 1 RB, is losing many WR’s and is also desperate for OL. Does this factor in?
Those high value players who are most sought after will hold LSU hostage while other schools that don’t need them as much can drive up prices. There’s a limited war chest, but you also can’t afford to “bargain shop” if you want to be competitive.
All of this, and more, is why I’m concerned. Not only with now, but going forward. Like many have said, it’s just not sustainable.
In conclusion, “Dear Diary”, “TLDR” and “Sir, this is a Wendy’s”

We never should have hired lane. We will never be as good as OM. The world is ending..... Signed tRant

Posters forget how awful the defense was against Houston and LSU badly needs to address those needs as much as the offense.
Need to address d-line in a huge way as well as corner and safety. Most of the dbs in the bowl game are right now looking like the starters for next year. They were torched.

I think LSU will be fine, but I understand some of the panic. For a month straight you had people saying how easy it was going to be to load up on pretty much anyone LSU wanted, and that Lacy Chambliss and the OM WR were locks.
Now you have people mocking those who are upset that we didn't get those guys, it's kinda like gaslighting. I don't recall anyone interjecting reason into expectations over the past few weeks and if they did I'm sure they were downvoted into oblivion for not believing in the new regime.

Would it be a typical NIL-era offseason without over the top portal panic though? This seems to be the typical thing every year across the country now.

No panic. We have a staff that are experts with this portal era. They will build a team that will compete THIS year. Sit back and let them work through their options. Once the team is set, they will coach and develop them

Unfortunately, this is where many are. Not me. At least, not at this time.
I’m more looking at what the problems are going forward, especially based on this year. That’s what has me worried most.
I’m glad that the players are finally getting a piece of the pie, but it’s becoming unsustainable. There needs to be a market reset.

LSU fans always talk themselves into non-binding situations and then get mad when they don’t happen.
There’s no reason to panic about anything. Kiffin’s systems are not proprietary to any one singular player. He knows what works, anyone is replaceable.

Remember when Saban said we had catastrophe syndrome?
What you’re seeing right now is the onslaught of LSU fans who pointed and laughed at OM when we took lane, and said just wait until UGA ends all of this. The egg on the face is causing more panic than ever before. They wanted to bury OM now and OM is somewhat capitalizing on current success.
In the end, we will be better off, so sit back and stop stooping to OM’s level of petty and treat them like we always have, which is not even thinking about them.

Too much panic. This isn’t a one year turnaround. Trust Lane to get his guys in and get the system in place. Lane can get production out of anyone and we still have Baker.

This is true. I’m speaking to both the one who think the sky is falling and the ones that are hiding their heads in the sand, when some concern is warranted.
This is a place of extremes. I think that all pieces lost can be replaced. Can they be replaced with equal or better players? We’ll see, but I’m hopeful. Just depends on expectations of both sides and whether they coincide (money, playing time, fit in the locker room, etc.)

Personally, I don’t think you’re allowed to panic.
Everyone wanted a coaching change. Most of you should know by now that with coaching changes comes a lot of turnover. This comes with the territory. This is what you all called for, this is what you’re getting. Happens in every transitional season. Barring a few exceptions to the rule.

It should be noted that anyone can still enter the portal. As players become unavailable, others may make themselves available due to opportunity.

WWAAYY too much.
I mean would I have like chambliss or lacy sure but we hired land because he and his offensive staff identified guys like chambliss Lacy judkins etc
I won’t melt until we start missing on OL

What good does panicking do?
What problem has panicking ever fixed?
