It would be really nice to somehow meet up with Michigan in CFP and beat the crap out of them...

LSU also has a former SEC starting quarterback with three years of eligibility remaining at backup.

Leavitt transferred from Michigan State. Manning has not started yet.

Nuss and Sellers belong on the list if they make the year 2 jump.

Bad post. The #1 QB recruit of the last decade chose LSU but a Michigan billionaire decided to get involved and bribe the kid until he changed his desire.

right.. "TBD" means we don't know how good he is yet but we've seen him play and know he isn't dogshit

Already on the list regardless of a "2nd year jump" after each QB played plenty well to be considered one of the top QBs in all of CFB.

Ya if you remember last year we were dancing now and crying when it really came down.

Locking up a player in June doesn’t mean shite

We just aren’t in the age of a kid sticking 2-3 years to develop. I mean of all places we’re a destination so it works out

Isn't there a stacked Louisiana QB class for 27? We have Van Buren and Hurley to get us through 26 and 27. And if they aren't up to it, we can always grab a dude out of the portal who is behind an NFL caliber QB or stuck on a bad team - that's worked out extremely well for us.

Obviously a highlight reel doesn't show a guy's downside but Van Buren looks more than solid to me. Nice arm, good anticipation, he can hit a tight window and he's an aggressive and effective runner. He has damn strong tape.

I think the fans are definitely sleeping on him a bit. He looked really good against a great Georgia defense last year as a freshman on a bad Mississippi state team.

He also looked pretty good at the open practice in tiger stadium earlier this year. Now that is just a practice, so take with that what you will. But he looked accurate and decisive.

Considering how many rookie QB's look so obviously not NFL ready when they actually get to the NFL, the number of SEC ready QB's that are stuck on the depth chart behind an NFL ready QB in any given season is somewhere between zero and one.

One way or another, you have to plan out the QB position 2-3 years ahead, because even if they're good, it's probably going to take an extra offseason to get a QB really comfortable and let him rip it.

Hopefully we've already got that guy in the State transfer.

This year, because Underwood set us behind, we gained traction with a kid who was already a foot in the door at Oklahoma, who also had money to spend, after offering a few others we didn't gain traction with. Then once we're were outbid/beaten for Bentley, we tried to delay Beaver who had Oregons offer to ponder. He didn't delay. Now we will wait it out, evaluate who's left, who emerges and keep contact with those we are already in the door with. Never know.

As for transfers, the portal has spoiled us into believing every transfer will be Butrow or Daniels. Most aren't. There are good options there. The problem for Kelly, time. If we are gonna use our past history as the barometer, we also have to use the fact that both Burrow and Daniels took 2 years to fully become who they became. Not sure Kelly can survive that long without winning big the next couple of years. 10-3 for a prolonged period is justification for being fired here. Should be anyway. Particularly if that includes missing the playoff. But he has to do something so you never know.

NIL has turned recruiting into a free market capitalist economy. Supply, demand, competition and TIME are all elements of negotiation leverage. Elite QB’s are the prime beneficiaries of a low supply, high demand position.

If you look at a history of 5 star recruits at all positions 50% never pan out. Quarterback position is probably the same. So paying crazy money for a 17 year old is a gamble. Nuss is an anomaly and glad to have him.
