16-51 Sec record during his tenure

Is that correct.?
If you take out the 9-9 season , he is 7-42.
These are incomprehensibly bad numbers

Careful. Objective facts aren’t tolerated around here.

Prepare yourself. This administration is about to give him another year.

This stat is misleading because it ignores/obscures the 9-9 season, which clearly shows MM is capable of winning games in the SEC.
If you have 5 buckets, and 4 of the buckets have 5 balls inside but one bucket has 10 balls, it would be silly to claim that no buckets have more than 5 balls by citing the average

Who would be dumb enough to donate to this loser? Can’t see how they can at this point other than admitting he’s shite, but they’re flat broke.
I think the money angle is over played, same drum beat with Kelly and his arse got run lickety split.

LSU cares about football. They have NEVER cared about MBB. I don't understand why, but they do not. The only two good coaches we've ever had in Brown and Wade basically had to do everything on their own. We'll pay our women's coach over $3 million a year but refuse to go out and get a good men's coach. I guess it's a donor thing. We just don't have the right ones in place for MBB. That's the only explanation I can come up with.

Can’t say LSU hasn’t given him a chance. A couple more games and this nightmare is over. Looking forward to seeing what new coach we get

Dumb. LSU has historically been the most successful SEC basketball program that is not named Kentucky. Florida has surpassed them with their success in the past 25 years. In the height of Dales' tenure the PMAC had huge raucous crowds and the university supported the program.

Kim Mulkey was an exception. She had three national championships and perenially took teams deep into the tournament. She grew up 40 miles away and she needed to be closer to her aging mother otherwise its doubtful they get a coach of her stature. The sellouit crowds and national puiblicity she generates totally justifies her hiring.
Can you name any high profile men's coach of national stature who has been hired by an SEC school other than Kentucky while at the height of their success at anothe school. Calipari had worn out his welcome at Kentucky and he sought the Arkansas job to avoid probable termination. Historically, all other hirings at SEC schools were up and coming coaches at mid major schools and that is always a crap shoot. For every Todd Golden or Nate Oats there have been multiple others who look great in a three piece suit but don't have success. Sometimes its not a good fit other times circumstances beyond their control have an impact. LSU was not in position to hire anyyone with better credentials than McMahon and there is no guarantee any other mid major coach would have been more successful if faced with the same hurdles. Spare me the shite that other coaches have to deal with injuries. No SEC program has had their best two players lost to season ending injury or personal issues as has LSU the past two seasons. NONE. NOT ONE frickING PROGRAM.
LSU was also facing possible draconian sanctions when he was hired which also precluded any interst in the job by a high profilecoach of any stature. I would like to see McMahon coaching with a fully healthy roster built on strong recruiting and adequate NIL funding, but I am also fine with replacing him if the decision makers determine a change is needed to hit the reset button. However you are sadly mistaken if you believe a very high profile coach will be hired away from a major power. Pearl and Barnes were good hires but neither was at a high point in their career when hired and there was no guarantee of success.

Look at the overall history of this program and tell me why I'm wrong.

You’re right, no one has been this bad.

Clearly you are too young to know about the 80s and 90s LSU basketball. But ever heard of Shaquille O’Neal ?
Posted on 2/18/26 at 7:22 am to hondo
He is the single worst coach in LSU basketball history. 118 years.

Never underestimate the stupidity of the LSU Administration or the fact that they are confidently willing to part with millions for their frequent past mistakes.

quote:Well that's interesting because in the last 2 years we are 5-25 in conference play. We got pretty hot for a 7 game stretch at the end of 2024, but that 7 game stretch where we went 5-2 is legitimately the only thing MM has to hang his hat on in his LSU career. We won more SEC games in 2024 than we did in MM's 3 other years combined here, and we still only went .500 that year.
MM is capable of winning games in the SEC

Why does everyone want to blame the coach? Calling him names like “McDogshit” is pathetic. Your anger is misplaced. This is on the administration at LSU. McMahon wanted to be a head coach at a big program… but LSU decided he was the guy and kept him around. You need to be mad at those that made this happen and those that can correct the problem but have chosen not to.

No sir, I am painfully old enough to remember, and Dale Brown literally did that on his own while beating down doors and recruiting a kid from overseas that no one had ever heard of. That is our reality until we get some big money boosters who actually give a shite about MBB. They will pay Mulkey and Title IX out the arse though for reasons I will never understand.
