re: 2007: Craziest year in CFB History.

the only team ever to defeat 6 teams that FINISHED in the top 15
That happened in 2019, not 2007.
LSU defeated 4 Top 15 teams in 2007:
Virginia Tech
Florida
Auburn
Ohio State
They also lost to two teams which finished no where close to the Top 25 (albeit in OT, not in regulation).
LSU was EXTREMELY lucky to not play the Dogs in the SECCG. That only happened thanks to a lucky ending in the Tennessee-Vandy game that year, for Tenn. Tennessee was not that good; Georgia was, and LSU would have likely lost any matchup between the two, same as in 2005.

No banner for beating Hawaii.

I am just glad Georgia beat Hawaii because I am sure some idiot would have proclaimed them champs if they beat UGA.
"THey are undefeated and LSU has two losses

I can't take any post serious that ends with a team proved they were the best that year by beating an unbeaten Hawaii team.

Georgia destroyed Auburn and Florida, two teams LSU struggled to beat.
And UGA lost to South Carolina, a team LSU beat by two touchdowns, and struggled to beat Vanderbilt.
See what I did there.

You stated that what proved Georgia was best is because they annihilated HAWAII. That statement alone makes the rest invalid.

Both teams should have finished in the Top 25. The polls overemphasize W-L record over SOS. 8-5 SEC teams were absolutely better than the 7 9-4 teams from other conferences who were ranked.

Conveniently left Tenn off?

Tennessee finished 10-4. They beat Wisconsin in the Citrus Bowl; their final ranking was #16.
Tennessee in 2007 had 3 ugly losses, to Cal (31-45), @ Florida (20-59) and @ Bama (17-41). They also endured close calls v Vandy 25-24 and @ KY in four OTs before their SECCG loss to LSU.
Tennessee... was not a very good team. LSU lucked out MIGHTILY by playing them, not Georgia, in the SECCG. That was the luckiest break of many for LSU that year.

During the last six weeks of the regular season, the Dogs were healthy, and played the best football of any team in the land.

They finished #12 in the AP.

Vandy 2007 was not the same as today's Vandy. They were competitive each week. They lost @ Tenn. on the last play of the game, 24-25, thanks to FG attempt doink off the upright

#16 in the BCS poll. They weren't that good

The BCS era was so much fun. Even with the playoffs, I wish they had left the BCS ratings as the method to determine the top 4.

There was no post-bowl BCS rankings.

I remember loading up on 10 BCS championship ticket futures (I forget the website) for $5 each after the loss to Arky as a flyer.
Well, what do you know... Pitt saves the day and I was able to buy 10 face value tickets. Sold them on ebay for way too much money to a BR cardiologist. Yay capitalism?

For any atheist out there - explain how the hell Pittsburgh beat WV? That one never made sense. 13-9. Pat White hurt, Steve Slaton struggled. What a night to be an LSU fan haha

Hawaii should have been an FCS team.
