Our defense practically shut Mahomes down
The frick?
Mahomes kicked arse. He was elusive and dangerous all night. He was a one man show for them. They just had no answer for our running game.

I remember a good bit of that game. At least half of it.
We were sitting low in the corner of the end zone next to the band. TTU scored early in the second half and pulled within 1. Some Tech fans thru a tortilla at me from above. I handed my 4th or 6th beer, to my sainted wife picked up the tortilla and announced to the section(s) that it was a magic tortilla that would lead us to victory. LSU fans were skeptical, but mostly non-abusive. My wife kept my beer.
We then scored 14 quick pts. People took notice. I made eye holes for the tortilla and named myself El Tortilla (clever I know). I was going places. We scored again. Someone posed for a picture with the tortilla and my hand holding it up. I wanted others to know of the magic tortilla so I went up a few dozen rows and explained the miracle of the magic tortilla to Tech fans and asked for more tortillas. They were NOT interested in me or the tortilla. They did NOT offer me more tortillas. While I was up there, we scored again. They become even less interested in me and the tortilla and my professed love of Lenny Fournette. I was explaining to them in great detail that only his REALLY good friends call him Lenny when my 20 yr old daughter was sent up by my wife to tell me that I and the magic tortilla were greatly missed in the LSU section and then apologized to the Tech fans for some reason.
We scored two more touchdowns. I threw a wad of cash at the band to play neck. My wife explained later that it was $3, some loose change, and a wad of napkins. People came by to meet Me and the tortilla. My wife was not amused but mostly non-abusive. By the 5th TD of the half, the tortilla and me were heroes to all. Mostly the tortilla. A female student came up to me in tears and asked to simply touch my tortilla in exchange for her beer. She fell down mid-sentence, and I was wary but made the deal. My wife became less non-abusive.
The game ended, the band played (not neck though). A good time was had by all. I will be in the lower level next to the band again this year. I hope the nice people from Lubbock bring more magic tortillas again.

Great game. Beating up on that shitty defense and the preceding Jimbo fiasco really had me clinging to hope Les was gonna have that offense humming in Lambeau

quote:Shut down isn’t compatible with 370 yards, though 50% completion and 6.6 yards/attempt isn’t particularly great
Patrick Maholmes being "practically shut down": 28/56, 370 yds, 4 TD, 1 INT
In fairness to Pat (like Lamar), he was up to the challenge. The boys around him were not and were completely outmanned

Mahomes was not the problem in that game either. He actually made some amazing throws but his team was god awful.
